So what type of accuracy do you get with your mini ? Also can you purchase magazines that hold more then 5 rounds ?
It can only come with five round magazines. That rule applies to centrefire semi-autos with detachable magazines regardless of whether they are restricted or not.
But rule is applied to the magazine, not the gun. If you can find a larger magazine from something that is not semi-auto and it fits and functions on a Mini-14, there isn't a rule that forbids you using it. I have never heard of such a magazine that will work on the Mini-14 but the principle has been established by people using ten-round magazines from the LAR-15 pistol in
.223Remington/5.56mm which happen to also work in their AR-15 type rifles.
If you find a suitable magzine and decide to do this, it might be worth having a copy of a the relevant regulation with you when you use it, in case you meet a police officer who hasn't been fully briefed on this.
