Quick handy open sighted bolt action?

If defending my family from a hoard of zombies it would be nice to have multiple pre loaded magazines rather than fussing with a detachable floorplate.
What kind of zombies are you expecting?

Another vote for the Tikka Battue, barring that a Husky 146 is probably the most economical and classic option.
Aren't Tikka's built on a long action? Can you swap the floorplate for a mag?

I'd strongly suggest looking into a CZ 550 in 375 H&H. You never know how big the zombies are going to be.

I have a CZ 557 in .308. 10 rd mag. Heavyish, but quality all around. No plastic on it. Read a review on Calibre comparing 4 Euro rifles. Excellent rifle, be aware that you will probably beat the crap outta hunting rifle, so stainless and plastic isn't the worst thing.

I also have a Savage 11 heavy barrel hog hunter in .308 i am slowly developing loads for. It has an internal box magazine, but I've come to appreciate that it's closed to the weather and can't be lost. Worth checking out. I'm quite pleased with it as well. It has nice open sights and a quality feel about it as well.
The 557's are available at Cabelas now.

26" off the top of my head, or 660mm. Was covered in our PAL course.
Correct me if I am wrong, but 470mm barrel length restrictions only applies to semi auto center fire and shotguns.

That's the way I understand it and centrefire covers shotguns as well as rifles. Essentially a manual action, bolt, lever, pump, must maintain the O/A length of 26" but the barrel can be less than 18.5". There are exceptions to this general rule like the Mares leg style as it's uniquely designed to be operated with 2 hands..

Ok, it just confused me because the Gunsite Scout was originally built on a 16" barrel but we here in Canada and Australia got a 18.5" version. I figured this was to adhere to our laws but if a 16" is good to go on a bolt action that's cool too.

I have a Ruger Scout with a 16' barrel, great rifle but a little "barky" if that isn't your thing.

Tikka Arctic if you want to spend a few grand

The desire is very strong. But my wallet is very weak. Totally overpriced, I'll admit, but that doesn't stop me from wanting one.
