Quick question? Can someone still use the M1 Garand

Couple of Weeks ago at a local Gunshow I saw what I thought was a coupple of 30M1s on a Table. Talking to the Seller he told me they where in 30-06 and legal.

Normally Milsurbs dont intrest me at all and automatic Rifles even less but when I was in my late 10s I worked in Geophisical Mining Exploration. The Party Leader ( Garry S. from New Zealand) had a 30M1 in his Tent in case a Polar Bear showed up. In those Days they sold for a 100 Bucks at the Army/Navy Store in Winnipeg, sorry that I did not buy one. Not sure but I belive they are now illegal to purchase.

M1 Rifle Garand, still good. M1 Carbine now prohibited.

If it was the VIACA 2 day show at the Saanich Fairgrounds, I know the table you were talking about. Seller had an International Harvester mfg M1 Garand on his table as well as a Springfield Armoury mfg one. Pretty sure the IH sold. Both were north of $2,500 asking.

At the same show, approximately 20 yrs ago, there was a table with several Garands. Mostly SA & Winchester mfg. The asking was $400 each.

They seem to be hard to find now & very pricey when found, though!

No, the 30-06 (and variations) M1 Garand is still non-resticted. M1 Carbine in 30 Carbine are now prohibited. Thank a Liberal. - dan

Was there not one on the last Switzer auction in Ont?
I did not follow that one so I could be wrong , as she said a few times.
Old age I forget if I was wrong, or not.

Thank you for confirming that the 30M1 is prohibited. I dont understand why but especially when one compares it whith the much more powerfull Garant in 30-06 also a semiautomatic and legal. Seems to me the average Canadian does not understand that the Liberal Party is anything but Liberal and I better dont mention what I think of this Fracker Trudeau which created this mess in the first place.

The M1 Carbine became restricted back in 1978 because it was the weapon of choice for Montreal bank robbers. As far as can be known, this didn't cut down on bank robbery and the crooks have since moved on to better things. Liberals keep trying to legislate goodness, but it never works. It's like beating the sheep dogs with the idea of scaring off the wolves.

Fact is, the Liberal Party Leadership (which is anything but Liberal) are afraid of the average Citizen owning Firearms. In order to be able to completely enslave the Population a Government needs to prohibit all privately owned Firearms and that is allways accomplished by pushing the narrative that it it will reduce Crime which is a complete Lie which they very well know.
