A topic of concern to me also. My preoccupation for quiet clothing and equiptment extends to everything I wear and carry when I am out hunting.
I have taken care of most of my stuff but the best I have been able to do for my pack is to carry the across the chest single strap packs by
Eureka called the Lost Pup and the Lost Dog, these packs minimize the exposed noisy nylon to a minimum by only having one strap down the middle of my chest,
they are smaller than most packs and don't come around to my side where they can be brushed by branches, I carry one of the two sizes I have
depending on my daily needs. We hunt late November and it is quite noisy with alot of bare branches to navigate around.
The best pack I have seen is one made from wool with leather straps reminicent of the alpine packs they use in the alps for chamois hunting,
I have looked around for wool rucksacs here but I haven't found any for sale, In my opinion they would be the best for a still hunter
to use in the cold crisp weather we often hunt in. Most any synthetic fabric pack I have used is way too noisy for hunting unless you are
sitting still, they all make too much noise and the waterproof ones are the worst with their lined interiors that get very noisy in the cold.
I would be eager to know if anyone has seen wool packs for sale or at the very least a quality fleece pack.
