R22 Problems? Anyone else suffering?

I got the Crack too! Where do I send this thing what a POS. I have a big chunk that is breaking off from the hammer hitting the front of the lower and it wont feed fire or eject worth a .... well I can't say on the board.
I have other major issues as well like the barrel and the handguard rail point in different directions so it can't be sighted in and the thing looks like it was assembled by people norinco wouldnt hire....scratches all over it from it sliding around on the bench.
Man it is sure the coolest little tack driver if they could get all this figured out but I didn't sign up for a beta test team.
With scope, rings, bipod, extra mags, loader, and about 8 bricks of "recommended" ammo this is the most expensive door stop ever

This worries me.

I was hoping maybe I just had bad luck of the draw, and got a pooched rifle. I feel your pain though. I was so excited when I picked up my rifle. But literaly, from the moment I pulled the trigger for the first time (and had a light strike) I knew in my gut I made a bad call. If I could have, I would have returned the rifle right then and there.

I am really wishing I put that money (basically 900 bucks now) towards a Sig PE90.

Have anybody tried moving the barrel backwards (1 or 2 turns)?
This might solve immediately 2 problems: hammer hitting the lower and light strikes. It might also help the bolt to travel a few mm farther backwards securely cocking the hammer and preventing bursts. Mine is back tomorrow after being repaired and test fired at TSE. I will post my findings after testing it at the range.

That was one of the first things I checked. I even have a picture to show me where my barrel should be sitting, and its sitting pretty.

The theory and reality are at odds sometimes !!!!
The hammer should NOT be hitting the lower under any circumstances ( with bolt in place obviously) and if it does the barrel is positioned improperly , period !!!!

OK, you shouldn't have to carve up a new gun, but if the barrel is timed right and for some reason the hammer is hitting the top of the magwell, I would bevel the bottom of the hammer where it makes no contact with the bolt.

hammer cracked lower

Mine is cracked on both sides, I contacted rhineland with pictures and they said to just break it off with a set of pliers. You should have to do that with a new rifle and if it was so insignificant why wasnt it milled off in production?

Got an update from RHineland.

Seems one reason for the recent communication slowdown is he's in the process of moving to a bigger shop and adding more tooling.

Because of the number of complaints about misfiring, combined with a shortage of genuine Ruger bolts in commerce, he will be machining his own bolts with a redesigned firing pin. He didn't get in to great details, but I suspect something like the VQ bolt with a round firing pin.

Also he mentions that once he's got the reciever interface for his colapsable stock worked out, he'll be making an adapter so that genuine G3 stocks will work.

On the topic of the magwell/hammer problem, I notice mine is very slightly distorted. I suspect it happened when my trigger guard screws had backed out and the geometry changed.

Quote from AR-15.com from Rhineland

OK guys. I just got done reading all the emails and there were a heck of a lot. It looks like there are about 5 of you out there with bad firing pin/light strike issues, wich means there are more someplace. We are going to be making our own bolt starting next week. It will have a different firing pin and extractor. I will be using a pivot type extractor so that we dont have to worry about them getting kicked out.

Anyone having any of these problems, let us know and we will send a bolt out to you. Just give us some time as we have to make them from scratch.

All that sounds very promising. I am positive they'll work all the bugs out.
I'll keep this rifle and make it work one way or the other.
What email address are you guys using for Rheinland?
My emails to info@rheinlandarms.com are being returned by Mailer-Daemon as undeliverable.

Good news on the stock adapter, so now where do we find an genuine G3 stock for sale in Canada, or do we have to buy one stateside?

I'm going to wait and see. Might just order a colapsable if it's a decent design. Mall Ninja crap be damned, I like being able to shoot in my parka so the adjustment helps.

And the mounted flash light is for finding my car keys in the dark.

Ok, just got the Email from Rhineland about the bolt replacement. Hopefully this will fix my problems *fingers crossed* Hopefully there is not a plethora of new issues to go along with the bolt (as it is being built straight from scratch).

If your going to hunt a gopher, give a gopher a gun. It's only fair. It's not like we're the French.

I researched the real G3 stock for Canada and apparently we are not allowed to buy this item as it is considered prohib, so we either have to try to deal with the cheap stock (try to make it more solid) on the R22 or wait for Rhineland to produce something better.

not sure if its been mentioned on here but on AR15.com some have mentioned they have filled there stocks with some sort of foam from a can non or very slight expanding stuff.
