R22 Problems? Anyone else suffering?

I've tryed

CCI mini Mags
CCi quickshok
CCI velocitor
Remington Cyclone
Remington gameloads
American eagle high velocity

And so far the gameloads have been the best I've gotten up to 15 rounds in a row without stovepiping.
Rhineland have been really cool to deal with their sending me a new mag catch and ejector.

I have emailed Rhineland 4 times now (after I recieved the first response) and have heard nothing for some time now. Just tonight, I noticed another problem with my rifle, I have a crack in my mag well!!! Its only a little one, about 1 cm in length, but its enough to make me a little worried. I would advise all other R22 owners to take of the Trigger housing/mag well area off of their firearm, and inspect it. I will post some pictures tonight (along with sending another email to Rhineland).

Where is the crack?

About the only area I've seen on the magwell that looks fragile is the very top inside where the hammer makes contact with the barrel. I figure if one was to screw the barrel out one turn and try and fire, it's getting smucked.

Thomas always gets back to me, but it can take from 6 hours to 4 days.

If you take your lower off, take your finger, and trace the hammer towards the front of the lower. When you hit the back of the mag well, you will notice there is a little 1 cm deep groove. The "walls" of this groove are roughly 1-2 mm thick. On the left side, the hammer has totally cracked it right to the base (1 cm). I am worried if the crack will travel further. Right now, it does not seem to affect operation in any way, but what do I know. Give the rest of your rifles a check, and see if you have the same problem (or possibly going to have the same problem).

Mine seems fine. The area seems to serve no real purpose. I'd be tempted to grab Mr Dremel and grind off the area if I was worried about the crack propagating.

Ok, I tried the Federal #710 gameshock rounds. Total bust. I had out of 200 rounds, 150 light strikes or failure to feed. The CCI mini-mag I shot after it was better (about one FTF every 7 rounds).

Are your firing pin hits on the high end of the spectrum?

This seems to be a common complaint.

Cause is a problem with the Ruger bolt. Since the channel it rides in is open at the top, the firing pin can try to jump up instead of being driven straight forward. Rhineland try ans swage the channel at the front to trap the firing pin in the right path. Have a look at yours and see if there is excessive movement.

Another fix is to try and back out the recoil guide screw one turn, which can improve the angle at which the bolt is presented to the barrel.

Seeing the title of this thread made me think made me feel unlucky that TSE did not call me to purchase... READING the content I see fate has saved me from what looks to be significant disappointment.

it looks like you guys are having issues with these rifles - generation 2 at that supposedly, I may even wait longer now. or see how the 17 Mach 2s work out...

What is funny to me is that I seriously scraped the web with custom google algorithms reasearching the R22 and I didn;t see this much FTF in any of the US forums.

Do you guys know if your serial nums are gen 2? either way this product looks inconsistent and rushed to market.

uhhh anyone want to sell their R22, no really - I'd probably buy one if the price is right

I have not given up hope on the rifle yet. I am determined to make it work. The rifle seems sound enough, but its odd the malfunctions that I have seen. I have talked to some other rifle owners who are having the same problems I am, and then I talk to owners who have zero problems, and are happy as clams.

All the rifles from the TSE shipment were Gen 2 (I think). All the serial numbers for Gen 2's start with a "B".

I started with some 20 year old stuff I had in the house..... (it was in the house for use with the gopher gun) and I needed to load the mags to let them sit and break in... it didn't work to well.

I grabbed 2 boxes of yellow jackets and fired loaded them up and fired all 100 rounds without a problem... only problem was loading... I've ordered the mag loader and a couple extra mags... I'm waiting on a holosight and he new mags and I'll go out again... if you folks have added bipods do I need to find a stud as well?

Yep, but getting a stud for it is no problem. I took my rifle to work, and the hunting staff threw on a scope and bipod in about 15 min for me.

someone should start a poll? "who has a flawless r22?" or "are you satisfied with your purchase?"

how many rifles were shipped in the first shipment (50?, 75?)and how many ppl are having problems with their new rifle? starting to make me wonder if its worth the price tag !!!

Update:

Ok, I fiddled around with the set screw (as recommended by Rhineland) and still no improvment. Massive ammout of failures again. I am at my wits end with this rifle. It took all of my self contol not to just throw it down the range, and blast at it. I emailed Rhineland again, and HOPEFULLY they will see fit to respond to this email.

Right now I really feel like I bought a 650$ (almost 900 bucks now, with all the ammo, mags, and scope ect) boat anchor.

IMO, totally not worth the money. If I knew the trouble I was in for, I would have sprung for the Krinkler-Plinker. Would I recommend this rifle? Sure, if you need a door stop, paper weight, ect.

kinda reminds me of snatch(as the rifle is almost 9 pounds) "Heavy is good, Heavy is reliable, and if it doesnt work, you can always hit him with it"

Trade you a Timmies for it????

Right now, coffee is the last thing I need :p Between trying to fix this rifle, I’ve been studying my brains out. Maybe all the caffeine in my blood is why I am not as patient with the rifle today?
