I used to think that Wakeman was a blow hard who had a personal vendetta against cheap muzzleloaders 'cause a CVA employee banged his sister. Every one who haunts the outdoor forums has followed a hotlink to his rants, but I happened across an updated rant that included.

- names
- dates
- admissions
- and other technical shortcomings that I don't pretend to understand.

Have a look, it also includes more recent models over and above the late 90's recall of the Apollo that started it all.

PS: Epic fail to the first Rah-tard who makes reference to the "search function".

Most CVA guns were manufactured in Italy and Spain. They were proof tested in the factories before they got shipped out. CVA sold guns that were entry level, mid price, and high end. Some of the low end guns did not quite have the fit and finish - how ever for the price they were a bargain. They were also very safe.

This may well be what the nastiness is about - CVA did sell some inlines that were less than satisfactory and this is their version.

1) if you use pyrodex powder, clean with hot soapy water, then clean again with very hot water. Although pyrodex leaves less hard fouling, the fouling it does leave is far more corrosive than from Black powder.

2) Always clean a Black powder firearm with hot soapy water - percussion caps are corrosive and even though the powder isn't the salts from the cap can cause rust.

I have an old CVA Kentucky Rifle kit (precussion) on the way, should I be nervous about shooting it????????????

NO!! Absolutely NOT!!
I tried to talk to Randy about this, but he is convinced that ALL CVA guns are crap, which is NOT THE CASE!!.
The ones he sited were their inline jobs that were not built at the same factories or in the same time frame as the replica guns.
I have owned many of their replicas, both shotguns and rifles, and they are decent fire arms, if not the highest quality, they certainly are safe.

There are people that are famous because they are smart -eg Einstein.
Then there are people who are considered smart because they are "famous".
Guess where Randy fits........JMHO

In the land of litigation, obesity and apple pie, I wonder why CVA hasn't pursued Wakeman with libel?
There were some instances where their are lawsuits involving the new muzzle loaders, but the company had changed hands from what I understand, so I guess CVA figures they had better not cause too much fuss?
