Over the holidays I’ve been looking at buying a range bag (medium to large/approx 45L) to replace my current duffel and would like CGNs help.

After years of shooting, I’ve been blissfully ignorant not realizing the variety of brands and price points of range bags. I’m not looking to spend money foolishly but would like a good to great product that is robust, has lockable zippers and quality stitching. I’d love to buy something made in Canada but haven’t spotted any CDN manufacturers ( it’s a niche market).

Can people share their thoughts and experiences with range bags? The Tactical 5.11 Range Ready bag was initially what I was considering, but have since stumbled across various bags including a brand called Tasmanian Tiger on the high end of my price point spectrum to the large grey Hoppes bag.

Thank you in advance

Brian

Our local shop has these and they are pretty nice. Unfortunately they are built offshore but they are of quite nice quality. I havnt seen anywhere else. others are similar but way more expensive. I think they are priced at $149 but could be wrong. Here is the mfgrs link to the bag I mentioned

I believe they only have them in black but that works for me.

Although not specifically for shooting sports Milwaukee PACKOUT may work, something like their tech bag or backpack lots to choose from in their line up.

This is what I use for the main stuff, handguns, ammo, mags, bipods, etc:

Also got a secondary bag from cabelas, used for hearing, eye, tools, stapler, clamps, paper targets:

Cabelas bag is ready to go all the time, the ncstar bag gets packed accordingly as to what I am taking that day.

Both bags have had stitching come apart, which I fixed with a needle and thread. Both great.

I use a husky bag too, the big one with wheels. Too old to be carrying stuff, wouldn’t be without it. They have them at Home Depot

Kunys tool bag. Actual tool bags are great options that last a long time and are generally more cost efficient because they're not "tactical".

My wife bought me the 5.11 Range bag. I believe it is a total of 43L, so right in your size range. If I am going to a 3 Gun match, it will carry everything I need, less the long guns of course. I find it has the right amount of pockets to store different mags, ammunition, ear/eye pro in a fairly organized manner. I really, really like it.

I use a DeWalt tool bag from Canadian Tire. Lots of room, lots of pockets, fairly easy to pack with a shoulder strap when it's got lots of ammo in it. It's not tactical, so probably not cool, but it's cheap and does the job well. I've got a proper tactical range bag as well, but it wasn't as big or heavy duty, so I use it as a soft sided tackle box for fishing instead.

I have been using the NC star bag for a few years now and it has held up surprisingly well. Amazon ca is your friend for that. There are a lot of options out there but I would say that the 5.11 patrol / duty bag is top notch. I have used one for work for years and its practical, well laid out, and the quality is fair for the price.

Had several different range bags from regular duffel bag type to the fancy backpack type, finally ended up with the 5.11 range ready bag, seems to be just the right compromise between too small and not able carry enough stuff and being too heavy and awkward.
