Range Bag options

I have been to the range numerous times, along with hundreds of trips to my own and other ranges for competition, I have had all the diy bags, 511 Cary bags and even the 300$ double alpha academy range bags, the easiest most convenient bag is a simple tactical large backpack found on Amazon for 35$

I’ve tried a few.

This is the best, hands down. Expensive, but worth it.

Does each pistol case have lockable zippers? Or just the one compartment in the backpack itself, where the pistol cases are stored in the backpack?

On the separate pistol cases I only see a zipper with a piece of string on the end no hole for a lock

Would be interested in replacing my 5.11 range bag with this, but it would be way more appealing to me if you can lock each pistol case

Each pistol case is not lockable, but the compartment lid zippers on the bag are. Pistols (with trigger locks) and mags go in the bags, bags go in the backpack, and the backpack locks.

The bag also has a rain cover stowed near the top of the bag. I've only used mine one time - tropical downpour in France - but it saved my gear.

So far so good with the Eberlestock R1 “Bang Bang” range bag — from the makers of the G2 Gunslinger II and the G4 Operator bags.

Pro’s:
- tough fabric, good sewing, lockable zips
- can custom configure
- bottom hard pad protects from wet ground
- full-footprint lockable bottom section

Cons:
- a bit pricey
- buckles get in the way of quick access to the main section — but once set up can be left unbuckled

If you have just one or two hand guns that you take to the range to shoot targets and maybe a 22KR to plink with get yourself a smaller back pack off of Amazon. Most of the bags I see are made in China/India or countries in the Far East.

When I say smaller, I just am trying to say the bigger the bag the more junk you will pit in it. A smaller bag makes you think about what you may need THAT day. I went from smaller to huge and back again. I have found a 40litre bag I bought off of Amazon has stood up well for around $50 delivered. It works and I still have stuff in there I have yet to use but MAY need one day/ Big tends to mean heavy and believe me if a kitchen sink will fit in your bag it will get in there one day and may never leave.

Go 40L back pack or a similar sized duffle bag arrangement.

Take Care

ps Our you might as well buy a big old gun bag with Ruger on it like so many of us do all the while wishing we hadn't brought so much junk with us.

PPS I bought a small garden wagon in the end so maybe I am not the one to comment.
