Took my Accumark out to the range today to test her out with the new Leupold scope and results were not too bad considering how windy it was.
I only had factory ammo with me. One box of 180gr Ballistic Tip and the other was 180gr Accubonds.

Here is what the Ballistic Tips did @ 100yds

Here is the Accubonds...

Recoil was very mild with the brake. Felt like a .308 Win :D

I am going to put together some reloads with 200gr Accubonds and also try some 180gr Partitions.

I like the look of your rig, but it makes my ears hurt...:D

Are you planning to hunt it? How do you like that stock?

The noise was not any louder than many un-braked rifles that I have fired. I had a pair of Caldwell electronic muffs, and they are the cats meow. I sure will be hunting with it when the opportunity arises. The stock is quite nice. I think it is made by B&C. Very comfortable to shoot.

The horizontal spread looks good, but the vertical stringing is a bit much. Were those the only two groups that you fired?

I fired four groups of 3 in total. The other groups where fired at 25yds to get on paper after bore sighting. I am going to check the action screws and make sure they are torqued to the right amount. I made sure to allow the barrel to cool down between the two groups. I just wanted to get it on paper and see how she handled.

Factory ammo? Must sting a bit every time that trigger is squeezed? :stirthepot2: $$$$$$$

That's why only 12 rounds were fired ;)

Got some Retumbo and 200gr AB's to load up and will be heading out again for more serious testing.

20 rounds is what.. 170 bucks now?... or close to it...

The rifles are getting crazy expensive now too...

Very nice rig...

Caveat Emptor. Don't use those ballistic tips on game. The 30-378 drives them way too fast for proper performance unless you're going to lung shoot things or shoot at long range.

Chek to see that you've got clearance between the barrel and forend then consider bedding it to try to tighten up the groups.

That's a downfall of the super 30s...you can torch a barrel before you find a load that works right. But that's the price you pay to shoot the fastest 30 cal out there (with the exception of Lazzeroni's big 30, but at that point it's a question of degrees)

Yes, those BT would be like using varmint bullets on big game. I will not be using them other than to get the brass and shoot some paper :)
I was always under the impression that Weatherbys had a forearm pressure point. Will check all the screws and try some reloads, but if the vertical stringing continues I will pay a visit to Rick at ATF for a bedding job.

shooting a 30-378 Wby at 100 yards is like driving a F1 to the corner store to get milk. Try that big bastard at 500 and report back to us! :)

Be doing good to get a 12" group at 500 yards with that load.....I'm sure it will shoot with the right load.

What did the other groups look like?

That's all I fired at 100yds. Putting together a load with Retumbo and 200gr AB and also with the 180gr Partition. It will shoot much better with reloads and maybe a different type/weight of bullet.

Reason I ask is the vertical is about the same....Could be a coincidence or may be a scope or some type of mechanical problem??
How's the trigger?

You should be headed in the right direction with the 200 Accubond and Retumbo.
180 Partitions are for 30-06's and the short range 300Win shooter.

Nice rifle BTW....Always wanted one of those :D

The noise was not any louder than many un-braked rifles that I have fired.

Then you have fired some very loud guns.I fired a fellows braked 30-378 ,to help him sight it in,and after one shot,I installed ear plugs in addition to my muffs because the noise was uncomfortably loud with just the muffs.I had no problem shooting my 300ultramags with the muffs alone.
