So I got to spend a couple of days at the farm with my 308 Win and a "gramp's made" steel gong at 427, 476 and 683 yards. This is the first time I've worked over this Bushnell 3200 10x and my 175SMK drop chart. I was also here to focus on doping the wind: 4-6 km winds at 60 degrees with 10-12 km gusts. Shooting only minute-of-gong, everything worked flawlessly and I was having too much fun. The first group was the 10 shots at 427 yards followed up by 5 shots at 476 yards - 15/15 hits. Then came 30 rounds fired at 683 yards without wind flags, with the day ending with 23/30 hits. The next day I set up three, 24" flagging tape wind flags downrange and carefully watched the wind to put 14/15 rounds (missed the 2nd shot by firing during a gust) into the gong at 683 yards. You can guess the ranges by the bullet impact on the gong, with the 683 yard hits barely making a mark, although always ringing the gong loud and clear. Overall, just a great session with my trusty .308 Win.
