With $100..If i was you,i'd get for myself a good Compass and Map.They take you there and guide you home ....safe...and you'll never worry the battery die on you in the wood.

For $300 , you'll get one that will tell you if a shot is too far to take with a non-magnum, by not being able to read that far :p

For $100, you'll be lucky if it even turns on. Either increase your budget, or don't bother. Sight in 3 inches high at 100, you'll be good to 200-250 with most medium calibers depending on which. Last time I looked at range finders the $300 US models could go to 300y and $600 could go to 600y. Check the EE, you may find someone desparate to sell, but the odds are against anything of quality ever landing in your hands for $100.

Now that is funny. I cheaped out and bought a $400 Leupold. For it to make your time you need to spend around $800. Keep on saving and good luck with the $100.

I have to agree with the other folks on here, but think of it this way instead. If you spend money on a $100 rangefinder, it will not be able to read any range that you would need to worry about how far it is. What I mean is it will not range 400+ yards, and would be lucky to range 300 accurately. Anything less then 300, with a 2-3in high sight in at 100 yards you don't need the range finder anyways, so why bother at all...and at those distances you are better off training your eyes to discern the difference.
