Range Report: XCR 7.62x39

So If i buy .223 LAR 15 mags, they will fit and feed in an XCR? 7.62x39 (just to confirm) so 5/30 AR platform magazines should also fit and feed in the 7.62x39 XCR?

Any AR mag will fit any XCR-L no matter what caliber your have.

Where you shooting corrosive surpie? If yes, how well do you clean your XCR after range session?

Yes on the Czech surpie. For now. I'm in the process of gather componets to reload.

I take apart, give it good scrub with Bore Cleaner. Finish with some CLP.

I don't boil water and make "7.62x39 soup", like others do.

I really want to see Jamie & Adam (Mythbusters) test the, "Your SKS is gonna melt if you don't boil it" myth.

heh front sight is on backwards too. the MI should be facing you =D

You're joking right?

If the MI is facing you THEN it's backwards... Again, not that it matters. Both the mount and the front sight will work fine in either direction.

If you got your XCR with the front sight on the correct way, then changed it around because you thought RA put it on wrong... I'd have to point and laugh at you... Hard.

"Rail mount models fold to rear, gas block mount models fold to front."

Last I checked the XCR doesn't have a rail on the gas block.

the best epic fail is the one you create on yourself. enjoy.. heh

Right back at you... Based on many of your previous posts I think you might be one of the most ill informed members of this forum. Stop trolling threads and think before you type.

this is from cgw guns website on the MI front sight. ( front sight automatically locks in the raised position with a robust locking detent button and folds to the front in the down position.)
hello. this is from bravocompany. about the MI front site. (When mounted these will fold forward to lay flat and out of the way of the field of view of your optics.) note fold forward. i contacted MI, because they say on thier website that they fold back. i was told by MI they are designed to FOLD FORWARD

Based on this I'm going to assume that you did, in fact, switch your sight around after you got it, so... ha:

well i preferr mine backwards then :D i stand corrected. as for my other posts, did you really need to troll my profile for a personal attack? i was wrong... big deal.

There was no trolling of your profile involved. It may just be that XCR owners frequent the same threads (hard to believe, huh?), therefore I can recall a few of your posts. Most of which were ignorant.

It's fine that you like your sight on backwards, like I said earlier; it will work fine either way. I was simply stating facts (I honestly hoped you were just joking about telling the OP his sight was on backwards) until you turned it into a pissing match, and I'm not one to back down from one of those.

Anyways, I feel we've destroyed poor Zeb's range report... Sorry mate.

If you ask me, there is not front or back on folding front sights. It's just a personal preference. Personally, I always run them folding forward and hang a little out the front to make them easier to deploy.

I have never cleaned my 858 using boiling water.

I just had to know...

This is what you get when you click on the "Click for Installed view."

Zeb had it right, for the BUIS at least ;)

I think you're brave for using the Czech surp in an XCR.
I bought a bargain bin SKS to shoot that stuff...
I know it's not the same game but I can't yet afford a XCR but I sure as hell can afford that Czech gold.

My understanding is XCRs take AR-15 mags including LAR-15 mags.
So why wouldn't an XCR 7.62x39 mag fit an AR?

And when we eventually get the XCR-M (pistol version)....

Heck I know stuffing 10 rounds of .223 into a 10 round LAR-15 mag can be iffy but peeps have figured you can stuff more smaller rounds in to larger caliber mags and they feed reliably in certain platforms. Technically nothing illegal about it.

Anyways we'll wait and see as I'm selling my old race bike to finance one of these vaporware XCR-M's

I don't get your point on the XCR-M. It'll fire .308 from AR-10 mags. XCR-L mags won't fit XCR-M and vice-versa because they are respectively AR-15 and AR-10 mags.

Now the 4 calibers of the AR15 and XCR-L (.223, 6.5, 6.8 and x39) are all different in shape so they require different follower and feed-lips. I don't want to stress my mags and decrease my reliability by trying to fit something that don't really fit.

Call C-Products, they ship to Canada. You'll get the same 5-10 that Wolverine sells for more $. It's not on their website but you can also ask for 5-20 and 5-30 mags in any XCR/AR caliber. They make a run from times to times. They support the professionals.

:ar15:

i had conflicting info on the sights, talked to MI, i must have given them the impression i had the gas block front sight, anyway, i have found the sight picture to be much better. the edges seem to catch light, without being shiny, you can see the effect 2 posts back of what i mean.

Poor word usements..

"We'll see" meaning...

I'm leaning toward getting a .308 XCR (when and if) rather than a 7.62x39 or a .223 XCR. That would for me, make AR-15 mag swapping a moot point.

Thanks, and good shooting with the cheap stuff! I have a crate of Czech which no longer need to hide its face among the other inhabitants of the stockpile.

One thing i'd reccomend with the Czech Surpie....tumble before shooting.

Every time i strip the gun down & clean, I find a lot of built up gunk on the bolt face & under the ejector claw.

This Czech Surpie is covered in a clear coating (to prevent corrosion ?? ). I end up using a dental pick to get this stuff off from under the ejector.

I just throw a bunch (100-125 rds) in my tumbler with some old media and run for a while. The end result is a slightly different colour round (more dull coloured).

I suspect this coating is the cause of some of my initial stress (jammed rds in the chamber & light primer strikes).

Zeb, Dip a Q-tip in some clp and agressivly clean the bolt face and dig the q-tip under the extractor claw untill it's clean, then dry the bolt face off with a new q-tip in the same way you cleaned it:)

You shouldn't be gettin jam's and what not, and i'm betting that it was simply too much lube in the wrong spot..... the bottom of the bolt carrier. You probly already know this but that's the part of the carrier group/bolt that MUST be kept clean and more importantly, dry as this is the area that strips a new round off the mag. The Mag lips should also be kept very dry.

Ya it may sound lame but even a light coat can cause a failure to feed. After i started this my Jam's went down to zero. Now i know they are built tuff and what not, but still... if you haven''t tried it, do it and let me know.
