It was a nice day today so I put a new 2x7 Elite on the 45-70 and bore sighted it. :D I put a 4x Bushnell on my son's sported P-14 and boresighted it too.:dancingbanana:
I got the 45-70 zeroed at 100 yards and the shots were over lapping, happy camper time. The big 420 grain cast bullets shoot pretty good out of the stubby lil Marlin.:shotgun:
Then the surprise for the day was the P-14, I shot 1&1/8 inch and 1.75 inch at 200 yards with the 4x scope. My son was getting into about 1.5 to 2 inches on his first tryout on the P-14 at 100 yards. He kept improving with every target. He shot a few Speer 150's and he said he likes the Hornady better because they were more accurate.:) Baseball size rocks explode really good at 303 speeds and reactive targets are more fun. Milk jugs and balloons filled with colored water make for a fun day at the range. The P-14 is the rifle my son said he wants when he passes his CORE program. As soon as he is done with that , the PAL course is next. He is 14 and is a natural, he has shot every rifle I have except the .338 mag.

Whoo hoo:dancingbanana: ,my son took the CORE program today and passed with flying colors, now it's time to get his resident hunter number. After that it's a licence and tags.He will then be eligible for the LEH draw too.:D Maybe he will luck out and get an elk draw first time out.:cool:He is all pumped up about passing the CORE program and is looking forward to the fall hunting season.

We were at the range one day when one of the locals was having a time with his sks jamming. After each shot the gun would rip the bottom of the shell casing off leaving the case nicely stuck in the chamber. My son asked what kind of gun it was and I told him it was an sks made in china. He thinks the Remington's and Rugers are better and is not interested in unreliable guns. He was only 12 at the time.............:shotgun:
