It was a nice day today so I put a new 2x7 Elite on the 45-70 and bore sighted it.
I put a 4x Bushnell on my son's sported P-14 and boresighted it too.
I got the 45-70 zeroed at 100 yards and the shots were over lapping, happy camper time.
The big 420 grain cast bullets shoot pretty good out of the stubby lil Marlin.
Then the surprise for the day was the P-14, I shot 1&1/8 inch and 1.75 inch at 200 yards with the 4x scope.
My son was getting into about 1.5 to 2 inches on his first tryout on the P-14 at 100 yards. He kept improving with every target. He shot a few Speer 150's and he said he likes the Hornady better because they were more accurate.
Baseball size rocks explode really good at 303 speeds and reactive targets are more fun. Milk jugs and balloons filled with colored water make for a fun day at the range. The P-14 is the rifle my son said he wants when he passes his CORE program. As soon as he is done with that , the PAL course is next. He is 14 and is a natural, he has shot every rifle I have except the .338 mag.
