Rare Colts...Boa and Diamondback (pictures)

That is an unmolested Colt Boa. The barrel and stocks are completely original. A buddy has a 6 inch Boa, I had a chance to buy a 4 inch one a few years ago but did not pull the trigger.

4" Boa & 3" Combat Python

...we have seen...nice pictures of Pythons and other interesting Colt snakes....unfortunately not a single one of a Colt Boa.
These pics are from post #147 in the "Show us your snakes" thread posted by
cal. jeffrey back on St Paddy's Day of 2013.

He didn't receive a single acknowledgement at the time (I just saw it last night myself) so I hope he's okay with me posting his pics here for people to see? He is lucky enough to own two of the rarest snakes ever to leave the Colt factory!

My dad had a boa in his night table for many many years as I was growing up ,thy are stunning .and I would love to have one today ,just for the sake of remembering how it felt to a 10 year old boy who just could not get enough of holding one on the rare occasion that it was brought out to shoot a few rounds ,I loved that gun ,,and still have a very soft spot for them ,,Dutch

I have a 22 LR version (two in fact), but not a magnum. Nice. - dan

The magnum is very, very rare. It's actually amazing how byzantine the production of some Colt revolvers was. It appears that Colt production was entirely driven by the number of orders they had on hand, virtually nothing was 'built on spec' and market research seems to have been non-existent. It sure does make for interesting collecting though.
