I've been looking for an nice M37 for a while. The M37 Featherweight was the 1st gun I owned way back in 1975. I bought it new for the price of $175 taxes in. It was lost in shipping when I moved to NB in 1985 and wanted another since then but did not want a full choke gun but one I could use for upland with IC.

Fast forward to a couple weeks ago at the skeet club when a friend pulled out this fine old M37 and handed it to me. Much to my surprise it was a 26" VR with IC factory fixed choke with a serial number prefix of "ULT" which indicates it's a very seldom seen ultralight model. Just so happened I had with me a nice old Parker Hale M81 in 308 that this fellow was going to buy so we agreed to make a trade instead.

Weight is a shade less than 6lbs. Limbsaver pad will be switched out to an Ithaca reproduction pad shortly. Gun is in VG condition with no other alterations.

I was a very happy guy with that deal.

Congratulations! I had the same start! an Ithaca 37 was my first gun in 1975. Shot a LOT of ducks with that gun, and may other birds too. Ruined it by putting on a Poly Choke. Got rid of it. After many years without one, I also found a M37 IC Ultralight, mine was a 20 ga. with straight grip. Loved that little lightweight gun, but shotguns are so particular. I couldn't hit much with it, it just didn't balance or handle properly for me. I hope yours fits you well and you enjoy many satisfying days with it afield!

Lovely thing. I hope the two of you will be very happy together. :)

I have a fear that someday people will realize what an excellent gun the 37 is and prices will jump accordingly. Auction prices for a plain barrel 12g run well under $500, sometimes in the low $300 range. That's nuts for something this good.

The prices on the new ones from Ithica are pretty steep but admittedly I am tempted as a model 37 was my first gun that was my Grandfathers and I took my first duck, grouse, rabbit, goose and deer with it. Not sure if anyone in Canada is bringing these up or not.

There are a couple coming up in the Switzer's Auction this week. Both standard 12 g, one with the neat-o front sight, pretty solid condition, unabused by the look of them. Current bids are $200 and change. I imagine they'll go for under $300.

Everyone should own two or three of these old girls. They are brilliant.

The new ones are doubtless just as good but yeah, no loss leaders leaving the Ithaca factory these days. All pretty spendy.

I bought a Ithaca M37 a couple of years ago at the local pawn shop for 250 bucks out the door with the intention of cutting off the full choke barrel to riot gun length as the shotgun is slam fire capable ; but I just couldn't bring myself to cut that barrel off .

I shot a 12 gauge Featherweight many years ago. It was impressively light and I don't recall any complaints about recoil. I always thought of picking one up myself. Very cool how you finally got yours SuperCub!
