Some nice guns shown here, it's nice to know that the world is not all "black guns" and some still appreciate the historical
aspect of firearms.
I am sort of a history buff myself and having said that here is my contribution to this chat.
In the beginning of WW1 the German army had no scoped military sniper rifles so they asked the public to contribute their
scoped hunting rifles to the cause. in all 4600 or so were gathered up.
These went to Spandau Arsenal for approval and then into service, mostly I understand, to shot machine gunners through
their aiming / firing slot.
I happen to own 1 of 3 of these 4600 Mausers that have surfaced and feel extremely lucky to own a firearm of such historical
ambiance. These rifles have specific marks to show they were Commercial to Military rifles.
Have some pics. if some is willing to post them here for me. --- John
