Rat Rod 1911 Custom

Beautiful grip, wish I had a 3d d printer, I woulds love a punisher style grip. I never took to the 1911. The tang safety has always bugged me. If I ever figure out this website my 1911 is going up for sale so I can get a glock in 45!

my own experience with the np29 is that they are a bit rough out of the box. Doing a few things has actually made a huge difference. A little de-burring here and there, doing some polishing on the hammer, sear, ramp, change out the leaf spring, sand down the rails where they need it, change a few mim parts like the safety, installed a better adjustable trigger, a better barrel bushing and a few hundred rounds down the pipe and it operates as well as some that cost several times as much.

As a cheaper platform to practice your repair/build skills and learn they are great....it just takes patience and tapping into the HUGE knowledge base from other owners of 1911's.

Is the norc a top tier 1911? NO....but for someone who likes to tinker or (i have read) they can be a great start for a quality build.

That is really my goal, just get a better understanding of the 1911 and fix it up as I go. Down the road get myslef a nice one.

Hey Euro: Just start watching different vids of people working on them and start with complete takedown and assembly. You will gain a lot of knowledge just doing that and you don't need to outlay a lot of cash...you can get a np29 new for around $350 shipped when they are on sale and pick up a few small tools and you will be hooked in no time.

I know i get a great sense of accomplishment when i fix up my own stuff and i do it bit by bit as i can afford parts. I even made my own grips and plan to make more.
