Rate my BCL 102

Ha ha, ur uhh yea..
I doubt you are a real hunter. This is soo not a "go to" hunting rifle, clearly you have never tried your rifle in cold temps like -20degC or lower. What, do you shoot with big beaver lined mitts on? Not to mention the action would most likely not even cycle, and any hint of frost or snow on that action you might as well wave buh bye to your game!
Seriously, quit fooling yourself these are primary hunting rifles. Sub moa.. doubt it.

But it is nice to dream isn't it!?

I never really understood the mass modification mall ninja principle? Other then the fact just to be different. A few grams here and there of weight savings maybe?
If you just want a gun to play around with and modify, this is a decent NR gun for that, but a reliable, accurate, hunter it is not.

Maybe I am a Debbie downer, but from my experience, I have seen enough guys modify everything from corvettes to snowmobiles to sports equipment, and nearly all of those guys are sitting on the sidelines watching the guys with factory units run circles around them all day long.

If you wanted everything better, why didn't you just buy a better gun?

First day I had mine out it was colder than -20. Worked fine. Got a sub MOA group out of it too, but I’ll admit it was a one off.....so far. I’ve reloaded a bunch but have yet to test my loads.

Mr. awesome hunter, why don’t you school us on what a proper hunting rifle is?

I dont care how much more accurate your bolt action rifle is, its 1 moa accuracy vs 2 moa means a 1" group difference at 100 yards, 3, 4" group at 400 yards....that is nothing compared to the bullet drop that happens at that range and your in(ability) to properly range a target, which could result in a foot drop from a bad distance call.

Irrelevant....AR10 rifles are used in DMR roles, hunting the deadliest of game, man. You're smoking some amazing crack if you think the AR10/AR15 family of rifles cant function reliably in extreme weather.

god damn fudds.....

Sure thing, I guess being a mall ninja/special op's commando wannabe is the way to go, ha! We love it when we come across fools like that in the bush, marching around, or doing dive rolls and playing with the magnification of their scope till the animal runs away.

So much to learn young padawans.

A good hunting rifle? Reliable, quality, basic bolt action, wood stock, scope is nice and close to the barrel, 3x9 scope, longest barrel you can buy (26") in a flat shooting caliber that is the largest you can comfortably shoot without closing eyes or flinching.

This will fire EVERY time, is the safest, most quiet to handle, most accurate in ranges from 20-600 yards, easiest to clean, easiest to keep clean, most comfortable to hold and handle... and so on.

It's not about being a fud. I bought a BCL as well, just not for hunting. And only reason AR-10's are used for wars is because they can throw a lot of lead out very fast.

Why is it mall ninja to hunt with a black rifle?

I have hunted the fuddiest if fuddy guns.

I just want to hunt with my BCL.

It might pain you to know I have a .338 Federal bbl coming for it too.

And who's a padawan? I have a metric #### ton of hunting experience and knowledge.

I'm far from a beginner.

I would not qualify for your hunting group, my bolt action rifle is in an aluminium stock.
Seems like you guys have got to have wood.

Seriously though why are you hanging out here?
Go in the hunting sub-section to spread what you got to spread.

It's the equivalent of an AA member, going into a bar telling people what they should do, as you have seen the way, and all drinkers are padawhatevers

I think the Star Wars convention is the next forum over. Seems like you are lost. The bolt rifle Tauntaun hunting exhibit is the third right.

No one here cares the be taught the way of the Fud by Master Woodstock Bolt Thrower. We ask you refrain from trying your "these are not the rifles you should seek for hunting" mindtricks on us here for we are immune. Oh... and may the Force be with you.

man, this tread went right off the rails didn't it. All it took was one dude throwing shade on peoples hunting prowess. Nicely done.

Opinions are like A**holes, everyone's got one.

FWIW Saltednuts, its a nice looking rifle, maybe a little too built out for my tastes but hey, that's just my OPINION...
and to back you up, I did just receive a SLR Helix, 12.5" MLok Handguard after seeing how it looked on Tharks 102. They tickly my nerd-bone with how nicely machined and LIGHT they are.
I wanted a bit more of the barrel covered than his 11.7 managed. Get that 13.5 to cover up the gas tube and it'll look pretty sweet!

Got this one after commando rolling down a hill then belly crawling across the field, I had just finished diggin my fox hole and I looked out with my NVG’s and spotted this one, he couldn’t see me due to my multicam. Contact!!! I yelled then after a quick fiddle with my optic I got him in my MOA hash reticle. I took account for the curvature of the earth, made sure my shoulder thing was in the up position and let fly from my 16” barrel. The hold over was immense due to the lost MV and arc trajectory of my 7.62x51, he was at least 50 yards away and closing fast. After an intense fire fight the smoke cleared and I found my self victorious. Got lucky this time I guess. Thank John Moses Browning! Amen!

Took me nearly a minute to realize that was a Troy PAR.

I should know by now not to drink anything while on CGN. This just made me spit my coffee out.

This is F'in hilarious!!!!!

It’s my pretend AR-10. AR PRE-10D. Oh! And I forgot to add, when I crept up to confirm my kill and check for intel the enemy was still alive. My CQB training took over and I fell my enemy with a quick blow from my tactical tomahawk.

Haha nice post love it!

There is another funny thing with HAHA962, i will quote him : I bought a BCL as well, just not for hunting. And only reason AR-10's are used for wars is because they can throw a lot of lead out very fast.
He did admit buying a BCL, and says afterwards the use for the platform is for warfare.
What war are you currently fighting with your bcl dude?

The biggest reason I bought something "tactical" to hunt with? Because I CAN!

When the politicians state that I can't have this tactical gun because it doesn't serve any sort of a purpose, I can proudly show them pictures of me hunting with it and bagging game with it. I can state that it does have another purpose that to look scary.

Funny how someone is stating that the BCL102 isn't sub MOA and so can't be a hunting rifle. How many Enfields and Winchester model 94s that people hunt with that aren't anywhere close to sub MOA guns?

Epic thread in the creation... i can't wait for my BCL to come in.
I think i will take up hunting and start threads of it in the hunting thread, lure these type out!

Joking aside, where is OP at with his mods with all this?
What scope you ending up with?
Something 1-6 should fit the bill and use for this rifle very well in my opinion.

Myself still debating between 1-6 PST gen ll or razor gen ll...
Probably will end pst gen ll, as ironically as this sounds (especially in this thread), my bolt action has a razor 4-27 gen ll and sees most action haha
If i should hunt, black rifles only. My precision rifle with ESS chassis aint black enough to hunt!

Holy scope batman, I do serious hunting, and the highest power feasible, even with accurate magnums is 5X, 3x9 powers are handy, just to use as a monocular, then I turn it back down to 4 or 5 and hunt up to 600 yards (max range of most guns anyway)

I love seeing guys with 20-40x power, absolutely laughable, no way possible to hold that steady in the wilderness, and nothing for a fov.

And fwiw, I never take black semi's hunting, nor does anyone I know, for good reasons. They are just good for toy shooting, way less accurate and way less reliable then a bolt gun, cold on the hands... But have at 'er... let us know if you ever get anything with it!

You asked for criticism! Lots of mods, not sure if they help or hurt you? But it will be unique! As long as you are happy with the way it turned out.

All that chest thumping.

Hes the guy who forgets to take off the safety as the critter runs away ! lol

That or hes the type of guy to miss a shot and look at the gun like it was its faultLaugh2

Like jeez lay off dude, its not your cup of tea we get it. I dont like muzzle loaders.. So I dont use em... Still think they are cool and show respect to those who get it done with them.

To the you can't hunt with a 102 and the change all the parts out or it's #### guys most people come on and read you high and mighty bs and laugh. If you shoot a stock nea and can't do better than 2moa learn how to shot. If you can't kill a deer from 1-250yd with a semi 308 learn to hunt. Flame away every one really wants to here you tell everyone else what to do. As for sights I run a 1x8 strike eagal and it's a blast. I will be putting a 3x18 stike eagal on it when they become available.
