RC K98 Totenkopf

Ah yes. I was thinking the same thing except I sharpened all of my sgx's and use them for kitchen knives and tent pegs now.

Plus, it doesn't even have a bayonet lug..........

Haha well at least you are getting some use out of them, better than in a box in the closet. Lol

Was that gun imported or from Canada?

The K98K forum is the place to do your research and get opinions on these rifles.

The stock is most likely of a G98 conversion.

There is at least one known example of a confirmed bnz42 single rune rifle (with 1943 barrel) - simply a left over receiver that used a later barrel.

Single rune rifles only indicate camp production. Not necessarily SS use.

The only rifles that confirmed for SS use are the deaths head, sszza2 or sszza4 depot marked rifles or 'ac' Nuenegamme G/K43's.

The SS and Wehrmacht were at odds with each other for the majority of the war and in direct competition for arms. The SS tried to secure their own supply of rifles through camp production (G/K43 at Neunegamme) and (BNZ camp production - single rune rifles and BNZ44 no letter series).

The SS was highly unsuccessful as they had limited business sense as their ideologies and socialist values luckily limited production. It was Todt and especially Speer that was responsible for manageable arms production.

The only accepted SS contract rifles were bnz43, and 4, 44. Maybe even only 43 and 4.
They have different serial number patterns and acceptance patterns.

Only other way to know if I rifle is SS used is by means of a deaths head, or sszza2 or sszza4 depot marking.

Most of the rifles used by the ss were no differently marked.
