Rcbs chargemaster combo.

This item has always interested me as a nice to have, not need to have item. I do just fine with my old 10/10 and the Lee charger, but when I sit down for a big session (200+ rounds) it starts getting tedious. But I do like the full hand on approach.

Anyway, I'm on natchez mailing list and they are selling this combo, which is the chargemaster and 1500 scale for $280 bigheads. Shipping up to me will bring the grand total to $366. Again, this is USD so I have to be careful with the exchange: this will look like $500 all said and done. Still seems like a decent number for this setup, but I have not researched it fully. Would I get the same rig somewhere else for a better price?

I've been doing a lot of mad minutes and this week I want to sit down and load up 500 .303B's. Something like this would make sessions like that more sensible methinks, so I'm considering it seriously.
 
You'd qlso have to account for duty(made in china) and taxes. Oh don't forget the 10$ handling fee the CBSA tacks on. So another 10-20%? The chargemaster doesn't make loading faster, just easier and more precise.
 
I would highly recomend it it has changed my attitude to rifle loading.. you may have to play around a liitle with it to get it consistant but worth it.
 
I have a RCBS electronic scale I don't trust already you have to keep zeroing it sometimes I miss it and end up with few loads .4 grains over. Since I don't know how many loads are over dump them all start over.
I prefer a Dandy power trickler and a beam scale I adjust my measure to 1/2 grain below weight, dump onto the pan then push a button until the correct weight is obtained. $400 cheaper no warm up or calibration nonsense required

Incorrect, I calculated the landed cost.

Anyway, I got the data I needed.

+1 to that.

Enter in the amount...run a few weights checking each on the manual scale.

Run a weight.....drop with funnel in prepped case...replace pan on CM....it starts to reweigh the next charge....take your charged case.....put it in the shell holder...swag the lead.....measure COAL....beep and the next measured powder charge is ready.....

One gets in a nice non tedious....rythm......Never had the combo be out even .1 gr.
 
I have never loaded without one, definitely worth the cost. Just make sure you swing by a McDonalds on the way home for a straw.

I personally think that they make reloading faster. Also, turn off the beeping, I hated that.

So... the natchez number is better by leaps. $500 CDN is the landed cost, as I've already described. The cabelas number you gave me is just the sticker:

I bought my Chargemaster in 2005. It died in about 2008 but RCBS sold me a new one for about $75 - I wouldn't load without one

I love mine, makes reloading go much faster than weighing charges, and you get exactly the same charge everytime. I bought mine from Clay Smiley at Prophet River Firearms.
