RCBS Chargemaster, prices and opinons?

For those wondering about software changes to speed up and reduce overthrows you can start by reading this.

I did this 45 minutes ago, it helped a lot more than just the mcd's straw trick. I had about 8/10 dead on rest were 0.1gr over for varget.

Im really loving this now.... I turned off the beep, which I kinda miss because now I just sit there sometimes staring at the scale waiting for it to beep... Way nicer without all the beeping..

Thanks again guys! Helpful info for sure!

Going to send my balance back and see if they will fix it. Going to probably pick up a Chargemaster soon anyways.

Anymore helpful tips or tricks to make one work better would be appreciated.

I picked up a brand new in box chargemaster scale (no powder dispenser) on eBay a couple weeks ago for $125 Canadian. Still waiting for it to arrive but I'm hoping it'll make my life easier then the lee safety scale I have been using.

The drinking straw mod greatly reduces the number of overcharges with the Chargemaster.

You can also program the dispenser for faster throws, at the expense of slightly more overthrows. It's easy enough to correct (grab a pinch of powder out of the tray). Only extreme precision rifle loads would not be suitable for using only the ChargeMaster, otherwise it's a great solution.

Something that costs that much money and needs so many "mods and upgrades" sure gets alot of praise............

There has to be some green brainwashing powder in all those die boxes.... ;)

Doesn't need any of them. Loaded lots on mine

As stated, it doesn't NEED anything to work just fine, the simple straw trick and some very easy to change software settings just make it that much better!!!

This is the easiest way to get extremely accurate ammo. It all depends on your purpose, mine is for precision rifle matches and LR practice upto 300 yards (all my range has). I like to know, that I am doing everything possible to squeeze the last bits of accuracy/precision out of my factory remington 5r action/barrel. Having the ammo weighed up for you at 0.1gr accuracy is pretty damn awesome. By the time I finish seating the current round the next ones already to be poured into a case and bullet seated.

That being said, out of the box it was good enough for regular use ammo. I want match grade or better ammo hence the mods.

CD.......I bought one and loved it so much that I bought another. This is the answer to those who say it is too slow. Yes it is expensive but I realized a while ago that I have much more of my life behind me than in front and anything that speeds up things like loading is a bonus to me. I get a kick out of people who will spend over 1K on a Dillon or Horn progressive to load handgun but balk at an extra 300 or so for a second electronic scale that cuts your rifle loading time in half.
I have done nothing to mine other than remove from box and set up and calibrate and they both work just fine, one of these days I will do the plastic straw trick to prevent the little log jams at the mouth of the spout and then the inevitable over charge. But really it's a little thing, more an annoyance than flaw.
I highly recommend this scale and as I said 2 is even better, I really cannot remember my loading life before my first chargemaster.........throw a load on the scale pan, put it on the beam scale and trickle up to desired load and then drop into funnel.........now it's remove from scale and drop into funnel..repeat..repeat..reapeat...........
