RCMP "Information Regarding 80% Lowers"

Wow they really saved life with this bulletin did they !?!?

About targetting real criminals ? I know, its dangerous, they have guns and are criminals... Lets harrass the law abiding AGAIN !

All true!!!!
Sadly no one is willing to do what it would take to get this country back to what it should be....it's to late! The ship is sinking.
And what's to stop a current AR owner from modifying an existing receiver to accept a full-auto trigger group from an M.16 rifle?

Any item -- be it a firearm or otherwise -- is not illegal until it is COMPLETED as an illegal product. An 80% completed receiver for an AR.15 has an equal opportunity to be completed as a legal and Restricted firearm as it does to become a Prohibited device. Yet it is the potential for misconstruction has reached the breaking point.

Do we live in a Minority Report state now, where Precogs can predict who will break a law, and what events will transpire in that regard? Have the Liberals and the RCMP begun using psychics to foresee what actions a previously law-abiding citizen might possibly take given any random scenario? Can they arbitrarily arrest someone because they have the potential to contravene the law?

It was always my understanding that the RCMP, and indeed every other law enforcement agency, was mandated to do just that: enforce existing laws. When did the ability to create new laws on their own pass down from the Parliament we elected to the civil servants who are appointed to their positions? It's about time we take a good hard look at how this country is being mis-managed.

This must be the RCMP's butt hurt response to the barrage of AR sales with the M&P 15's lately. I think sombody is beating their chest and roaring in their little cubicle right now. A real triumph there guys..............high five.

I don't see how they can make something into a chargeable offence based on a memo or bulletin . Doesn't there have to be an amendment to the C.C. or an order in council ? If there is no law against an act, how can you be charged.

The fact that all these new bulletins are coming out every week, indicates the new order of total disarmament in the country. Pretty much every legal gun owner in Canada will be in possession of prohibited weapons or devices, thereby allowing the Gov. to charge you, seize all your guns and revoke your license. They have no choice if you are in possession of prohibited devices or weapons.

Every single new bulletin like the recent one's needs to be challenged immediately in court. If the gun orgs don't do it, we stop contributing to them and send our money to a law firm willing to take on the challenge. Cut out the middle man. How about class action law suits, if changing something once perfectly legal and approved by the RCMP to something prohib and resulting in a loss of money to the owner. Not to mention the stress and mental anguish. Probably trigger PTSD in some.

I have written to the gun orgs to which I belong informing them that I expect aggressive action on this front. The implications for law-abiding firearms owners is obviously tremendous and if they (orgs) aren't going to marshal their resources and combat this nonsense with everything they've got, there's clearly no further use for them.

The RCMP gone full retard !
I will voted for that

Maybe I'm wrong on this, but shouldn't the firearms business community be stepping up with support for us all. I mean it's their employment/companies that are at stake here along with our firearms options...

I do wish we heard more from the CSSA and again wish they could/would step up like the NRA south of the border. I mean if they got more out going and started pressing back against this type of B/S (more then they already do) they would really see a rise to the input of membership/donated funds from all us shooters etc., as we'd become aware they've got our backs.

It really is a sad state of affairs our once fine country has fallen into when good, honest, law abiding citizens are the ones our RCMP are focused on to stop crimes that MIGHT happen.
Well let me correct that as due to these new (illegal) firearms regulation changes now many in our community have a prohibited firearm in their possession and w/o the necessary license to own it.

So again the RCMP have made Regulation changes to make the most vetted in our land criminals and all from owning a product deemed legal by the RCMP previously.

Here here, job well done (not).

Its obvious that the reason they are going after the 80% lowers is because they are worried people will finish them, and not register them. This is their " getting assault weapons off the street" election promise. They need to have their hands in everything, and now its no longer possible to have a lower receiver they do not know about. Think about how crazy it must have made them to know that people out there had 80% lowers but they didnt know who. It's a control thing. They cant stand not knowing who has what guns. I do not know what gives them the right, or why they think they are entitled to know anything about my personal life.

More and more they just want more control over everything. They are like an incredibly strict parent and we're the children. It's pretty sad that society now has been brainwashed into actually wanting this. The majority of the public do not want to think or act for them selves because reality is too hard and/or too scary. They want the government to take care of them, and thats exactly where we are headed.

Why not just make a block of steel or aluminum that is larger than the size of a receiver a firearm?
Might as well just make any old chunk of metal a firearm by that decision.
So you can just call anything a potential prohibited firearm when you want to ban it? Ridiculous.
Again, this is "information" is it? When did this amendment to the Firearms Act take place in parliament? I must have been nodding off on the readings in the house maybe? When did this law go through our democratic system and get imbedded into the Federal Act?
