RCMP Letter of Interest for a New Service Pistol

A good choice would be a SW SD9VE , just blank the side/mags so non metalic, tap slide for optics ready or buy mount, it comes with a 8 to 10lb factory trigger (almost the same as a glock NY2 trigger).

SW also does special runs on these slides with loaded chamber indicators for the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia. Also they can notch slide for ambi release, as for mag release not ambi, that's a tough one, they can be taught to release mag with middle finger without breaking grip?

it's a great budget work horse pistol. Coming in at about 349 CAD.

When they trade in all the 5946s to SW it will be almost a straight trade dollar wise as SW can refurb them and sell them for about 400 USD per. It would cost the tax payers absolutely zero dollars , actually they might receive a cheque back from SW?

Or........just get the SW MP9 which iam 99% sure will be their new semi auto of choice, it checks all boxes!

Do you still have the URL for that announcement?

SPVM & Co. may be following the SQ in procurement, and the SQ went with select-fire .300 Blackout (with suppressors) for their tactical units...

You'll have to dig in! It was on the provincial equivalent of MERX, and pre-shutdown. This article is from 2018 and is about 5.56 Colt rifles, probably C8s for the patrol cars.

Edited - here is a URL for purchase of 9mm some years ago. This site is what I mean above = https://www.seao.ca/Recherche/avis_...egoryCode=G3&callingPage=4&CatChoosen=1&Opp=3

Is the sd9 optic ready and will it shoot without a magazine in the pistol? Doesn’t the M and P require a tool to fully disassemble or decock?

The pistols will be issued with optical sights right from the get-go. Also, they will be issued with flashlights too right off the bat. Looks like the RCMP will shoot for the stars on this one.

Pardon me quoting the whole thing I’m on my phone. The mag release is going to be a hard requirement. The reason we have ambi release now is because a member died and they found his mag released itself as it was a right handed gun in a left handed holster.

Bu the way, Walther was submitted into the trials and is doing very, very well. Also does not need to be dry-fired to be taken apart.

^^^dare to dream Jerry! I know Montreal was quite happy with thir p99s, but flipped to Glock eventually. I heard it was for cost and compatibility with SQ. Quebec City is still using p99.

While the PDP would be an excellent choice, I'm guessing the "red herring" will be parts, cost, etc? The fact that Gravel is the distributor may make a bit of a difference? They might be able to "check" some of the boxes for the "woke" requirements, LOL.

Whatever is adopted, likely RCMP will deal directly with the company for parts, service and initial training.
What troubles the regular consumer like us is often not the case when you deal on a big enough scale and direct.

in regards to one poster I've seen in this thread,

so the people who are expected to engage with armed assailants, as a regular portion of their job should not be armed? That is like saying firefighters shouldn't be allowed to use water. This has got to be one of the dumbest statements I've ever seen. Cops don't get to pick when they are going to encounter violent people or groups, it could happen at a simple speeding stop, or it could happen at the shopping mall as they're doing a walk through. Sending out unarmed cops is, categorically, stupid.

I'm amazed that they've written this to allow Glock to compete. I am even more amazed at the RDS and flashlight section, totally f3cking amazed.

Circa 1994, when evaluating several models of semi-auto pistols for conversion over from .38 Spl revolvers, it was found that the 5946 was an ideal paper weight to keep spare targets from blowing off the shooting bench.:p

NAA.

At nearly 2.5 pounds it makes an excellent impact weapon too.

Considering they have the biggest market share in NA, excluding them would be utter stupidly, but that's the way all pistols are selected, LOL. Maybe they go with the PX4? I'm sure the "price is right" and they already have the pistol in the "system", LOL.

RCMP air marshals are already all aboard the Glock train.

Lots of people involved in the training cadres (you know one for sure) are big fans and have worked hard to have those requirements written in.

Ya the sky cops have been using them for ages, it's hilarious how they even try to hide that from other RCMP lol. I knew guys were trying to get stuff into the proposal, but didn't think most of it would actually make it. No more mag disco? No mandated 45lb trigger pull? amazing times. I hope they go Glock, as much of a CZ fan as I am for their job requirements, it's the best choice.
