RCMP Letter of Interest for a New Service Pistol

In my opinion they need to stick with Dao for the regulars. sig p250 would have been what I would give them If I was in charge.

The glock gen 5 random slide hold open deal, I would suspect the ambi catch would be to blame, wouldn't take much of an out of spec part to have it lift with the trigger pull.. also suspect a week or missing return spring wouldn't help either the pin walking or the holding open. In all likelihood in a gun that was probably re assembled by someone who messed up.

The French did a single order for all armed government officers, didn't hear any horror stories about it (they went with the Sig Pro). Anyway, given that Cz now owns Colt, and Colt owns Colt Can, I'm thinking that perhaps the National Centre of Excellence for Things We Like to Ban might have a pretty good chance with the P10. They're already used to trying to produce decent quality while being "all woke and sh*t". And don't think that that isn't what matters most - along with votes in a potential swing riding in Ontario, of course.

Well while I think that CZ make good pistols, I don't think the P10 is a good choice IMO, again Colt, great barrels but nothing really "head & shoulders" above any other "quality" mil spec AR. If??? all sides could remain in the same room, they should be able to select a pistol for all GOV agencies, however I suspect it's a case of the the "tail wagging the dog". Selection of a good duty pistol isn't "rocket science" very few agencies get it wrong, however ours are looking for "one pistol to rule them all" unrealistic and short sighted. The days of a 30yr pistol platform are gone, the new era is a new platform or replacement every 10yrs, nuff said.

How many new officers have sworn in over the past 20 years?

My old sarge was a 48000 regimental number and he went through 20 years ago. We're into the 69000's I believe, or just about at it. It's the anticipation to see who gets reg # 69420 and hope it goes to someone who's cool, and not some nerd who's going to think it's dumb.

When things are going as they should, it's safe to make a guess of about 1000 a year average...ish. Some years are heavy, like the 2000's and some like the 2010's to now are pretty lean. I worked with guys who went through when they averaged a troop a week, and my year there were all of 18 total.
