Ready to go back to the classics, or never left?

That's a nice classic Cat...... I have my first #1 on the way and looking forward to a similar hunt...... I even have the same jacket.... Lol

:)I have one the same or very similar I inherited when my Dad passed away. He's wearing it here on our last Moose hunt together.

And,:) it's still being used as here a few years ago, on my last Alberta Mule Deer hunt on draw.

:) mine was a hand me down as well..... I always had one growing up as a kid in appropriate size...... Dad used to call them our "lumber jackets" because they were always worn in the woods collecting wood for the winter.......

Hoping to get some use out of mine locally on Island Deer this year, ;)along with a workout for my 'old Classic'.

:d My favorite lever gun/calibre combo, a Winchester model 71 Deluxe in 348WCF. Two issues that may hamper that a little. I have a cataract problem to be 'delt' with late this fall. But more of an issue locally:mad: is the vast increase in access restrictions by logging Co.s and the increase in locked gates.

;) Still have the hat as well, the one in the Moose photo with Dad. It started back with me when I first started big game hunting with Dad and I still use it on special occasions. ;) An artifact from the 'pre metric' era:p.

I have a similar one..... The hat that is..... You can flip the "blaze" over and the hat becomes full woodland camo..... Lol

It's hard to call a 50+ year old cartridge a "new age" magnum............I think it has proven it's worth and is well on it's way to becoming a true classic...........

Twas said mostly in jest. Any real man knows that they haven't improved much on the 270 win in the last 100 or so years.

I'm with you on the old calibers. The most used rifles in my safe are in 7x57 and 9.3x62. My hunting buddies used to laugh and say they are outdated but as the years go on they are slowly adding those calibers to their collections.

I just added another 30-06 to my collection and I plan to use this latest rifle (T3 Battue, 5-rnd mag, wood stock, metal shroud/trigger guard) as my thick bush guide gun. I will be experimenting with 200-240 grain Woodleigh bullets over some stout charges.

I guess I fit into the old category lol. I have three 30-06's, a .308, a 303 Brit and a 6.5x55. Only ones really on my to buy list is a .270, 30-30, and 300 Winchester magnum.

I think you can count me as "going back to classics". Been seriously considering a 9.3 and I had always thought it seemed like a ridiculous cartridge until actually delving into it further.
