bring it on. What do you have built on that case.

Not yet, mon ti'pet! I'm contemplating the possibility of chambering a Mas-36 or 36/51 for the .30-284 round.
It is an easy conversion: you just use a pull-through finish reamer to clean the former 7,5 French chamber and do it with the barrel still on the action.
The bolt is used to push on the end of the reamer and when the bolt handle turns down, you're set with a minimal headspace chamber.
I have drawings for a rail front and pistol-grip rear stock to replace the existing ones.
I just need the MAS-36.

well seeing ultra is out playing farmer and chasing sheep or whatever he does on the farm  I will try and entertain ideas of wildcats that could be.....I spent alot of time chatting with a fellow thismorning on the 44 case in a marlin rifle...got me thinking, I like the ,429 dia lead, the 444 I had killed everything I wanted it to , but it just didnt have that 200 yard range I would have liked with confidence so I thought what if we necked down a 470NE or 460WBY case to hold a ,429 dia bullet and gave it a 24" barrel , I played with the results in my head and figured a 240Gr or 265 Gr bullet hitting 2800-2900fps and having no problem reaching 200-200+ yards and dropping a moose

and yes I have way to much time on my hands right now

Its called a 425 WR .Not really but it would be close to what your looking for.
Rich
O yea I think it is sheep with a couple of Goats thrown in.

okay bones since you-dont like piss ant rifles,l got one for you here and l thought that 450 ackley mag had some snot,475 A M magnum based on the 378 weahterby case necked up with 10000 ft lbs energy puts a 400 grain out at 3227fps with 120 gr of imr 3031 500 at 2980 fps with 110 gr imr 3031 and 600 at 2502 with 105 gr imr 3031 and they built that puppy on my favorite ancient p 17action,and from the sounds of it ,it will kill on both ends of the rifle!

Its called a 425 WR

Bones I have an article on the .425 Express Mauser.
400 grain bullet: 2400 fps at the muzzle and 1900 fps at 200 yrds
5100 foot lbs at the muzzle and 3300 ft lbs at 200 yrds
Recoil is apparently very reasonable.
Maybe that is what you are looking for.

Jacky

well my 270-08 ackley improved 40 dgree shoulder is just about ready, sleeved it sako extractor and blablabla, put a hart 28 inch match barrel on it,last one l had was putting a 130 grain sst using rl 22 out at over 3300fps .pretty darn good for a 308 casing, very efficient, but as we all know sometimes the same rifle will not duplicate the same speeds, anyone ever made one up before or am l the only one with the oddball calibers ,wait no lm not wheres dusty.rr, and ultramag at?

we target shot at a popcan at bullcoons farm a while back with a 6mm , dosnt quite kill a can like his 450 alaskan or the 458 will  , + bullcoon lives fairly close to were I prefer to moose hunt so its easy to stop in for a coffee and a bull#### session...and the wife likes looking at his cats , pretty dam impresive critters :D
