Real Italian T2 Garands

I see ads on EE for upwards of $3K now for regular, non Tipo 2, run of the mill Garands these days.

Yup I thought about it a lot too, but picked up one myself since I can't recall the last time real deal Italian Garands were available. .308s built by armourers yes, but not actually out of surplussed inventory. They are a neat node in Garand lore. Paid slightly less than 2.5. Mine is the same, lots of grease but not alot of apparent wear - thinking they were built, test fired, and then stored for the last 50 years. Mine shoots beautifully, maybe 4 clicks on the elevation before getting centered on paper. Italians took care of their Tipo 2s for sure.

I almost bought one of these M1 Garands but I bought a Schmidt and Bender PMII Scope instead, I hope I don't regret buying this Scope over an M1.

Sometimes I wonder if there are more rifles in Dealer stocks than advertised.....if they try create a false market by only selling them off in Small Batches.

I seen a few Italian Breda and Berretta Rifles in the $1500-$1800 Range Like 6 months ago. Covid Hysteria and Trudeau's attack on Semi Auto's maybe have had bigger influence in the climbing EE Prices.

Guys are paying $2500+ for an Italian rebuild???

Italian rebuild.

Rebuilt in Italy.

Two thousand five hundred dollars.

Have you not heard of Benelli, Ferrari, and many other makers of things of beauty with a vowel at the end of their name? ;)

My thoughts also, Abbiatico&Salvanelli,Caesar Guerini,Renato Telo,Sordiglioni,Perazzi,..... sure wish I could afford some of these shabby?? Italian firearms.

People shouldn't turn up their noses at the Italian made Garands. They were made to a high quality line under peacetime conditions and were more lightly used and rebuilt less often than the US made rifles. Some prefer the Beretta Garands to the Breda Garands, but Breda made many receivers for Beretta under contract.

An S&B scope is nice but you can't shoot it. Also, they don't make M1 Garands any more and they will appreciate even more with time. You can always buy the latest and greatest S&B scope, just saying....

The italians have a lot of experience in making guns. It shows in the quality of the metal and wood used in the manufacturing of the m1 garand rifles.
The Danes improved on it with the VA R replacement barrels etc
Just compare a totally original Beretta or Breda Danish contract rifle to an original US contract rebuild
The Italian fit and finish will amaze one

I agree. There is nothing substandard about the Italian Garands.

As for the M1D's...thought about it but it's 3K more, not a small bite.

Well.-
You missed your shot a couple of years ago with a piece of junk, these are not junk, they are the real one.

And, I think it's will be no more, so!

Doesn't matter what pimp shine gets put on these Garands, the Italians are embarrassing allies for whichever side they are on and the rebuild lowers the value.

We can all admit that the Italians are better lovers than fighters. Other than that, the Tipo2 Garands are well made and are good shooters. What's not to like about them?

Italian M1D TS PARAFIAMMA M2 flash hider variants

Good Day All,
I was able to strike a deal and purchased a number of variants of the Italian PARAFIAMMA M2 marked cone hiders. In conversation with Italian collectors, most were parkerized but a small number were blued. One of the ones I have has a deep blue/black finish. All variants are marked with the Fabbrica d'Armi Terni (Italian Arsenal at Terni) or FAT stamp, with the year (56, 57 and 58) beneath.
Best Always,
Mike

I have some italian flash hiders also. I wonder why some are stamped on the outside and some are stamped on the inside. The American milled one's are just stamped on the same side
All the critic's about the italians. They made the best finished m 1 garands next to the early Springfield M1's
I have a few of the Beretta and Breda guns in sets unissued you can't beat the fit and finish
The US mint rebuilds come close, but you can't beat new unissued
