Reaming for a rim fire liner

I agree with your method, to me, it just not worth the effort unless no other option is available.

48 inch bed, 11 inch swing... Rockwell stopped production about 1972-73 to go into the space industry... I think it is one of the finest gunsmithing lathes they made ... Sam Elliott bought it new in 72.
 
You lucky rascal, a 48" bed. I thought it looked longer than usual, what a perfect length for the gun trade. There's been many a time my 40 inch bed Logan has had me scratching my head wondering how I might get around an extended problem. D H
 
I remember Mick McPhee tapering a barrel for his 1886 Winchester on his 6" Atlas lathe. He mounted the tailstock on a block on his bench, turned half of the barrel, then flipped it around and turned the other half.
