Rebarrling a Luger

So to make a long story short I might have the option at picking up a WWII Luger for about $400. Now the problem is I don't have my 12.6 so my mind started wandering. I had read that there was a place making restricted length barrels for the Lugers. I have no idea how hard one would be to find and was wondering if anyone here has rebarreled a Luger and then got it changed from Prohibited to Restricted.
 
A lot of gunsmiths will do it, and most have Restricted length Luger barrels in stock.

I would try Jason at GunCo in Ottawa. He is affordable and does great work. You can have the gun sent to someone like him, they will re-barrel it, change the status, and then transfer it to you.

You can try Collectors Source in Ontario. They do it routinely. Unfortunately, it's not cheap, $495 using a DLask 110mm barrel.
 
OP, you're in BC. Have the present owner send the pistol to MDCharlton in Victoria. They will handle the whole thing without hiccups. There are a few others of course but the pistolsmiths at Murray Charlton's are very good.

If you work in a gunsmithing shop, surely your "smith" can turn out an appropriate bbl from a 9mm blank????? Bits of Pieces out of Delta can supply both barrels and blanks.

P08 barrels are one of the easiest to duplicate. Easily threaded and chambered, a couple of simple tapers??????????????????

Simple solution, have them legally transfer the 12.6 pistol to the gunsmith and have them drop it off there. Then you pick it up once it has been converted to restricted. Happens all the time with Lugers. It's sad but a luger with a longer barrel is worth more than in 12.6.

Bits of Pieces did a non-restricted storm carbine for a friend of mine and didn't /wouldn't return the original barrel.Likely sold it.

I see that your location is "BC" .... Dlask is right in your back yard and they do great work. I had a Luger done by them a few years ago and it was perfect.
