I've discovered a crack in the slide of my M&P 9 Pro CORE. Searching the posts the feedback for S&W Warranty coverage, although not recent, was less than favourable. Are we limited to one warranty service provider in Canada? Any recent experience?

Thanks

What are your choices?
Send the pistol to the warranty center, or, don't send it to the warranty center.
One choice will get your pistol repaired, one won't.
The sooner you get it on its way, the sooner you'll get it back.

Well if there is only one service center in Canada then my choice is as you describe. I can take from your message there is a single service provider i.e. limited. If the experience of others is they have a long backlog or there are other unexplained delays then I'd drop the dollars on a slide myself if it meant the gun is fixed sooner. I realize I'd have the same or greater delay in sourcing parts so just looking for experience of others.

Will S&W sell you a slide? When I cracked mine, that wasn't an option. Had to send the pistol to the center. Cost about $250, if I remember correctly.
Just out of curiosity, I did a search for S&W authorized service centers. Here in Canada, the only listing is for Gretsch Outdoors. 519 589 4867.
S&W (US) number is 800 331 0852.
Occasionally I have seen used slides offered in the EE.
Call S&W. Call Gretsch. Check the EE.

I went through quite a frustrating experience with Grech. I have done the warranty thing at least once with pretty much everyone and the only time I HATED it was when I had to deal with those clowns. I had the SW rep working with me directly and it still took many months for a simple repair. They had no parts and had no idea when they would be cleared to send any... It may be better now but you still have Grech's very terrible reputation to deal with. As you were told you only have two choice though, have them repair it or do it yourself.

You may be in luck. Had a look in the EE, found two S&W M&P upper units.
Standard, with Storm Lake barrel, etc. $400
5" PRO, slide and barrel, custom shop with ported barrel and slide. $400. That is an excellent deal. If I didn't shoot a CORE with Delta Point Pro, I'd be interested in that one. Much prefer an optic to irons.

As I understand it Grech is no longer the warranty depot for S&W as of recently. Info I rec'd now states Locations Snapshot(more commonly known as the Ruger warranty center). Just sayin'

If Snapshots is the new SW warranty center that is great news. Those guys are awesome, I have dealt with them several times and aside from a single missed email they were solid.

Interesting but I prefer red dot as well plus gun is used for production shooting and ported barrel would disqualify it.

As of 30 seconds ago, the S&W website lists Gretsch.
Indeed..Grech website also states they are still warranty center for S&W. I rec'd the info from a S&W distributor so I was hoping it was the truth. Fingers crossed

nope. Doesn’t apply. Murray retired over a year ago leaving us high and dry for any accountable S&W warranty work.

S&W has dropped the ball, completely, for warranty service in Kanada.

WTF are they thinking? S&W sells a ton of guns here every year. Poor new warranty support, not even counting electable repairs.
Wanting repairs on my S&W model 28, it seems that its cheaper to just buy another one.

Disappointing. Not Performance.

The only reason my gun got repaired is because another blown up one showed up that they could scav the parts off of. After months and months, that's how I got my gun back...

NOT encouraging! I've started looking for another gun for when this one goes in. Thanks for the feedback.

I've been waiting 7 months for a replacement trigger for a T/C Omega through gretch................
called T/C in the U.S. last week and sent pics or the broken trigger and gave my name, but a coworker's address in the U.S. (she married an American and moved across the boarder but crosses daily for work)
she texted me yesterday and said the trigger is on the windowsill at work............. I'm off until Monday and will get it then.
it's pretty sad that we are at their mercy because living in Canada. what good is a warranty when we can't get parts in a timely fashion???

Grech just doesn't have any parts or the ability to get them from what it seems... After taking a 686 in for repair in person hoping for better service than I had read online, I was informed that they simply didn't have any parts to do repairs and S&W wasn't helping them get them.

My gun needed a new ratchet as 2/7 cylinders wouldn't lock up in double action prior to the hammer falling when the cylinder was dirty and some resistance was present on the rotation of the cylinder. He cleaned it and told me to keep it clean, there's nothing wrong with it....

I ordered the parts myself and timed the gun again from scratch. I've done repairs and timing adjustments on Pythons, Troopers, Dan Wessons, and Smiths are the easiest to work on. It's a shame that if someone who isn't mechanically inclined or doesn't have the specialty tools required work on guns, their new S&W is potentially a paper weight despite having one of the best warranties in the business (Lifetime).
