recoil pads

I like the limbsaver pads, for me I use the slip on model for most every rifle I shoot. Being 6'5" tall I find the added length of a slip on pad gives all of my rifle a much better fit. FS

Therein lies the problem. I'm not a 'grind to fit' rifle owner. How hard can it be for these guys to make an item that fits a specific butt template? I see a business opportunity here for an enterprising person. I will be their first customer for a number of rifles...

'Grind to fit' is not just grinding the pad to be the same dimension as butt outline, the lines of the stock must be maintained as well... the pad should be an extension of the shape of the stock...

I have not seen any 'pre fit' pads that actually fit any stock well... but I guess everyone's sense of what 'fits' and what doesn't is different.

My limbsaver precison fit on my T3 isn't exactly perfect but its close enough for me considering how much faster installation is compared to grind to fit. I can live w/ it no problem lol. I don't blame it on the pads, I blame it on the holes in stock not being perfectly centered? When you screw it on its gonna draw to where ever the hole is right.

Not to belabour the point, but I put a Limbsaver on my Win 94, Marlin 336, and an old Parker Hale that were as close to a perfect fit as one could imagine. Others I have tried were pretty far off the mark for the rifles they were advertised for. Frustrating. Anyway, I do see the problem for these manufacturers I guess, since there is a staggering number of butt templates out there to try to match. If they would only zero in on the most popular few dozen and do them well and then make the rest grind to fit...

I have the Pre-Fit Decelerator pad on my 1895. They are hard to find. The fit is pretty good.

I also have Limbsaver on my Browning 300wm which is also very good.

I think they are about same in recoil absorption and fit/finish.
