What's your favorite semi auto 22?

I've owned a few and feel like I need one in my collection, my problem is that I find them boring to shoot when compared to a AR.

I've had multiple Ruger 10/22s - stock, tactical, and pimped out versions that always seemed to be ok. The problem is the lack of a 25 round magazine is lame.
I've had GSG 16s, Savages, and Marlins but I keep getting rid of them because they just seem to not be fun shooting off a bench.

All of them were pretty cool, but nothing really stood out.

I'm looking for something semi auto, reliable, decently accurate, and that looks cool.

If you had a budget of $1200, what would you get?

For a nice looking rifle and as good a shooter as you will find, and not just another 1022, a Marlin 60 stainless in laminate stock. Nicest looking .22 semi every made in my opinion. Good rifle too.

Funniest guns to me always have some sort of story behind it. Either fixed up, a gift, modded in some way etc.
the cooey 600 i had was definitely a blast at the range with spent shotgun shells as targets.
Savage #3 because it was my first gun and for 70yrs old still shoots loonie sizes groups at 50y.

The 10-22 and GSG16 feel "soulless" (something guitar players know about) just because you secretly know theres 4000 identical ones online and easy to replace.

Add another for a custom 10/22. I went with a Dlask receiver and 12.5" heavy barrel, TandemKross trigger, FAB Defense chassis. Fun close-distance plinker, and thanks to the receiver design, has access to proprietary 25 rounders.

There was a nice Anschutz semi in folding stock on EE, but it just sold ;-( - about $900-ish. Was tempted but snoozin' - Maybe something like this would tickle you ? https://www.canadiangunnutz .com/forum/showthread.php/2211647-Semi-auto-RX22-anschutz-1-week-left-SOLD

If I had $1,200 burning a hole in my pocket. I’d go for an HK 270

Always wanted to try one

If you get it and hate it. I’ll take it off your hands for free

Alternatively, you could try out the tanfoglio appeal. Get the real space gun look

I've been where you are now.

Unfortunately, (for me anyway) there isn't a single newly manufactured Semi .22 made by anybody that I find appealing.

I'm personally now at the stage where I like the older semi's with butt fed tube mags ( the Winchester models 74 and 63), although I do have an example of the aforementioned HK270.

So, if it was me with a budget of 1200, I'd buy more of the above three I just mentioned. But that's me...
