For a nice looking rifle and as good a shooter as you will find, and not just another 1022, a Marlin 60 stainless in laminate stock. Nicest looking .22 semi every made in my opinion. Good rifle too.![]()
Nope! Never owned one, and won't ever. My father in law bought one, and it is a nightmare to take apart. Poor engineering is the detriment to lots of rifles, and in my opinion, the model 60 is just lazy engineering.
Here's a good video comparing it to the Ruger 10/22. I own a really nice threaded barrel DAR22, and it is a dream to shoot AND disassemble. The Marlin Model 60 looks ALMOST as bad as the old Remington Model 550-1 to take apart and reassemble. Those that own or had one of those, know what I'm talking about. My advice to anyone buying a 22, is to watch disassembly/re-assembly videos on anything that you want to buy first to see if it's a good design, or it is going to be a nightmare to clean. You will have to do it at some point, even with a semi-auto 22.

If you like old school looking walnut and blued steel, a nice Winchester Model 63 is a great option. Here's a picture of the 4 of mine that I took out today for another thread.

Another would be an Old Mossberg 152. Short, light and the engineering on them is really great. Rear of the receiver has a nut on it that you can remove, then you can pull the bolt assembly right out, without taking anything down on the rifle for cleaning.
There are probably others, but that's off the top of my head.
Cheers,
Ian
