As per the title, i want to try a steel gun thats hammer fired. I want it in 9mm. I don't care about it being used. I would like to keep it under $700 if possible. Some of the guns i was looking at:

Jericho 941
Beretta 92
CZ 75
CZ shadow 1

I currently shoot an m&p 45, m&p 22 and an fn fns9l. Let me know what you recommend. Thanks

Its that much better than the others listed?

YUP!!

From your list, the CZ 75 is the grandfather of the SP-01 so the SP-01 is new and improved. Better trigger, sights and has a light rail. The Jericho is a clone of the CZ series with a slide mounted safety ( which I hate!) The Beretta 92 is old. There is the S, SB, F, FS etc. that came after it. It also has the slide mounted safety/decocker. I like the Beretta and own one but I think the CZ is a much better design for a 9mm pistol.
For the money, a used SP-01 is the best value of the guns you listed.
This is my opinion. Clobbersaurus and Canuck44 will disagree here! :)

I'm personally a polymer gun guy due to the simplicity of their designs but the SP-01 and 2 rule the roost for a DA/SA gun IMO.

Thanks for the insight. I have no issues with my polymer guns and plan on getting more but i really want to play with a steel gun. I appreciate what your saying about the sp-01 vs cz75 but i feel like i would be happy with either. I will keep my eyes on the EE for either of those and hopefully be able to snatch one in time.

I have both 92A1 and SP-01. Both awesome pistols. 92 easiest to field strip, sp-01 almost like a 1911 to take down.

Accuracy on sp-01 is amazing, fiber optic sights is a plus.

If the 75 and the SP-01 are within a few bucks of each other, go with the 01. Have you tried both yet?

My only experience with steel guns is an 80s era beretta 92 that wasnt functioning well because it sat for 10+ years and a single mag through a shadow 2. The shadow 2 felt nice but i would have liked more time to handle it and get a better feel. I'm not interested in spending $1200+ on a single pistol though

The 92 needs lube. They don't run well dry esp. if sitting in a safe for 10 years!
I agree about the S2. More of a niche gun for IPSC shooters. You won't regret the 01 or a regular 75/85 ( the ambi version of the 75)

If you plan to shoot IPSC or any other formal competition, Shadow SP-01 for sure.
Otherwise anything CZ-75B-related would be fine (Including Jericho 941 and CZ-85)

Why wouldn't a cz75 be suitable for competition. I have no plans on competing due to lack of time anytime soon but curious anyways. Thanks

If you shoot them all you would understand. The SP01 is built more for that purpose.
If you are not competing and just looking to have some fun, then get which ever puts the biggest smile on your face. Thats what it is ultimately about.

Way out of your price range, but if you hate money....

The Lionheart lh9 is a steel framed hammer fired pistol in 9mm. IRG has them in their US store for about 1000 USD, that includes the threaded barrel conversion to meet our barrel length laws.

If you want steel, unless you get a s.s. 92, they are not all steel,They are big.
I have just got a steel Jericho 941 and it is the best shooting 9 I have, and it is 600.oo ( with the threaded barrel) New. (It will out shoot my HKP7)
Cheaper with out, Funny as I could never shot a CZ 75 worth a damn. I never bother with the safety at the range, just lock the slide back, A older sig P220 in 9mm are nice also, hard to find in your price range for newer ones, alloy frame, the 941 is all steel, they also make a poly one , but never had one in stock.
Have you tried a 1911 in 9mm?

Buy an SP-01 Shadow. Great gun. Perfect for diving into IPSC or IDPA, as well as plinking. Known quantity to others, so if you decide to sell it, there is a good market out there.
