Build your own! Without the optic, but with lots of strategic buying this baby cost me $604 without the optic
colts are ok, buy a stag arms they use fn barrels.
Windham has forward assist and Liftetime warranty.
Sight sponsors SFRC and Kellys Sporting Goods both have some good prices. I have two, ...one in 223 and one in x39. Both are doing well and no regrets.
I just upgraded to my restricted licence and figured, what the hell, I'll get a AR. If for no other reason than it'll piss off a liberal.
I'm not looking for uber high end. Probably want to spend around $1000 +/-
I'm not interested in NEA, Norinco, or Dominion.
I've been looking at Armalite, Bushmaster, and Stag. So of these what would you recommend, why, and is there another brand I should be considering?
If you want to go quite high end and accurate, Freedom Ventures is selling their STI ARs at below cost, to clear them out. High end stainless steel barrels, and JP trigger groups. 1100$ is all.
That looks awesome. I'm looking to buy or build my first ar. $604 is amazing, you must have been patient and smart about your parts purchases.
Also in the same boat. Debating getting a WW or DD or something a bit cheaper and an optic. I don't have any suitable optics
A good optic on a budget is the Hi-Lux CMR 1-4 from Wolverine for $400 (might have gone up a little since I bought mine).
WW or DD would both serve you well for a long time.
Must be Monday!
Just kidding... Go with a CORE15. American made quality, absolute no BS TRANSFERRABLE lifetime warranty.
Wicked deal here for $750:

@ cr5, thanks for all the good info.
At the moment I'm thinking WW, they have everything I want right at that $1000 mark.
I'm not in a huge rush to buy one right away. I probably won't get one till late summer. So my budjet has a strong possibility of going up. I've even thought about ditching my Tavor on the EE and going really high end.
But I'm just not sure I want to spend $2000-$3000 on a restricted rifle... Yet.
Part of what appealed to me is that $1000 will get you into something "military grade".
I definetly have no interest in anything Chinese or NEA. I'd prefer something American made.
