Finally got my pal/Rpal. Want to go deer hunting with my buddies this fall.
Think I've narrowed it down to a weatherby, winchester xpr maybe one of the American rugers. Cz550 if I can find one..

you might be able to find one of the original Tikka T-3 on sale for about $750 or so, that would leave you some extra money towards a scope.

Out of the ones you list, Weatherby Vanguard or Howa1500.

Prophet has this one on for $679, tax in and free shipping.

The only 270 I own is an AB3, no complaints with it, liked it enough I bought another in .308. It's not a lot different then the XPR, little more refined I guess, better mags and barrel retention, comes fully glass bedded.

Steyr, buy once cry once, and be happy, you won't regret spending the extra Few bucks later down the road for something you really like, the vanguard is good value, but I'd get another steyr even if it took longer to save up the coin.

+1 on the Weatherby they shoot well and are underrated- own a 223 and would buy another one

The more I shoot mine the more I realize how truly overbuilt the actions really are. I think they would make a good base for any custom gun....no plastic, no weak links, everything done right and not on the cheap.
These are some 55gr Nosler I've got ready for yotes and other PITA dialed in for my 243...so they are going pretty fast.

223 spits them pretty tight too. And it's much "prettier" lol.

I've shot a 30-06, 308, 300 win mag. But never a 270. From what I've been reading it'll do everything the 308 will. A bit more of a flat shooter.
Just heard a lot of good things about it and the ammo isn't too expensive either.
Should I find a nice rifle in a different caliber I would be open to purchasing that one.
I'm pretty indifferent to it, but just set on the 270 as my top pick.

I just purchased a weatherby vanguard s2 in .308, its a great gun, shoots sub MOA just like they claim out of the box. Id recommend it. Super smooth action too.

I have a Howa 1500 in .270 and a Wearherby Vanguard S2 in .308.

I find the Vanguard to be on the heavier side, mostly due to the stock, and I prefer the grippiness off the Hogue stock on the Howa, especially in wet weather.
