so, same place I am in. Cannot decide.
Kind of leaning towards the Savage 25 Varmint. Very nice, seems to be as smooth and as well made as anything else in the price range, and better than some. I don't like the plastic mags, but that's the way of things.
There are so many...
Ruger American Predator- great, nice barrel, trigger, Mauser action(short bolt lift, controlled feed)
Savage Axis heavy barrel- cheapest, quality barrel
Remington 700 - tons and tons of them, easy to mod
Tikka T3/T3X - great build quality, Sako barrel,
Weatherby Vanguard S2- guaranteed accuracy, proven action
Mossberg MVP - Takes STANAG mags, laminate stock, fairly proven
Ruger M77 Mk2 Varmint - gorgeous, proven, accurate
Howa Mini action - small, light, very quick cycling
the other Savages- also proven and good.
I just cannot decide...
Gotta be a heavy/varmint profile barrel that is at least 20" long, accurate and well made and in .223/5.56 Prefer laminate thumbhole or pistol grip types, with beavertail front ends, but I know its more important that it shoots accurately. As well, I'd rather have a 9 twist so I can shoot 55grn pills, as the whole reason for .223 is to shoot/load cheaply.
