Recommendations for a honeymoon hunt?

or for a few dollars less...$10 000 wil bring you far in Africa...doing some 'chinese accounting' the following can happen:

1. flights @ $3 500
2. 7 days, 6 nights for 2 with 4 trophy species include (Blue Wildebeest, Impala, Blesbuck, Warthog / Sprinbuck) @$3 500
3. Trophies back to country of origin @ $2 000

Total: $9 000 and some 'sun downers'...(estimated)

Is that $9000 and some per person or as a couple though? If so, totally want to find where you got those rough numbers :) We're looking at close to $10k for the two of us before trophy fees and gratuities.

I've never priced out guides but I think if you could find a way to do a sheep/elk hunt in Northern BC (Liard area), you'd have an experience to remember. Africa sounds great but we have some pretty amazing stuff here. I'd spend the money locally if there's something that looks interesting and fits the budget.

Sadly you'd be looking at about $40,000 for a BC Stone sheep/elk combo....for one person. Canadian hunting is expensive when compared with the rest of the world but you are right, we do have some amazing hunts here....they just typically come with a hefty price tag.

rtracer13,

This is for both. Even if this is an estimation i think i cannot be off with so much...On Flights i don't have any control over, but can help with the Outfit...ever optaining quotes for you on the dip and pack / taxidermy cost / export cost....

1. I can offer a 4 trophy (Blue Wildebeest, Impala, Blesbuck, Warthog) + 1 observer for free for 7 days, 6 nights safari @US3 500 (day fees, trophy fees, ground transportation, transfer from OR Tambo International and back, Lodging and meals included)(Excluded: Taxidermy cost, export cost to country of origin, airfare, tips)

2. The US3 500 airfare for flights (for 2) from USA Atlanta
3. Export cost / pack and dip - US2 000 to USA for 4 trophies even less
4. I did forgot about the taxidermy cost - US 2 000 (SHOULDER MOUNTS) or a cheaper option at US610 (SKULL MOUNTS) for all 4 trophies

Total: STILL UNDER US10 000 if taking the cheaper skull mount option...

I am not to sure about the flight to BC, but cannot be so far off...

My wife and I went to New Zealand hunting red stag and fallow buck It was great. The outfitter we went with was awesome as well as there lodge. It was absolutley the best trip we have been on, we both can't wait to go back someday. If you would like info on the outfitter send me a PM.

My neighbour got married this summer, and they are going to New Zealand for honeymoon and hunting this November for 4 weeks I believe.

For me, I missed my moose camp the year I got married (got married in late September), but my wife and I went to Whistler and went golfing for 4 then took off to Vancouver Island and went salmon fishing for 4 days..so I guess I wont complain...it was my wife that suggested we go salmon fishing.
