Recommendations for a Lady?

That's awesome! Congratulations and welcome to the Browning Club! Give me deets!! 12 ga? Barrel length? Micro version, regular? Adjustable stock? Recoil system? Have you shot it yet? Hahaha so many questions! I'm clearly enthusiastic lol. Well I'll probably see you this weekend if theres a trap field open. I wasn't sure how they were running it with the skeet comp going on. But regardless I'll be there at different times, taking pictures and possibly drone footage. Hopefully get a couple games in on Saturday.

Definitely will have to meet up! I'm currently shooting a Browning Cynergy Sporting for trap and skeet. So far I love it! Also this fall, there will likely (as long as this covid thing doesn't prevent it) be a trap shooting event hosted by Western Outdoors Women. If you aren't a part of that group on facebook, I highly recommend it. There are supposed to be some fall hunting retreat style meet ups planned as well. It's cool that it's a group of just women who are into hunting, fishing, shooting sports etc.

Skeet may seem to be more difficult at first because of the different angles say station 4 full crossers. Easier because you know where the clays are coming from and which direction they are going. You can practice over and over different stations you are having difficulty with. They will practically always follow the same path. Trap throws clays within a certain range of angles but at random. You never know which way it will be launched. If you get a chance to shoot sporting clays, go for it, never boring. Lots of different angles, clays come in different sizes, thickness, colors, etc. the layout (course changes constantly). you never know what you get until you get to a station. Tons of fun, golf with a shotgun.

Browning Silver Sporting, 12 gauge, 28" barrel, semi-auto. Everyone was certain whatever gun I bought would need to have a gunsmith cut down the stock so that it would fit, but this fit as soon as I picked it up! It is way easier to sight than Leslie's Miroku. I'm not sure of what "micro version" means or if it is one. It is a lovely dark grain wood and has a fancy recoil pad on it that Chris thinks is really neat, he's never seen one like that before. I'm going to have to get spacers for it, he said, in case I ever want to sell. Even if I don't want to we'll need them as my husband will snag it the second I stop shooting, he's quite taken with it as well. It has some lovely subtle detailing on it. The trigger is gold tone and the underside of the trigger guard has the Browning buck logo picked out in gold as well. The external metal bit that contains the action (is there a name for that?) is aluminium I think and has a lovely matte finish. It is light and sleek and I absolutely adore it.

I need to go shopping and get a shell catcher and a hard case, and some gun grease. Any suggestions on the shell catcher? The few rounds we tried, the shells ended up a good 15 ft away. :)

Chris took it apart and cleaned it for me, showed us how to disassemble and reassemble. The previous owner stressed how to do it and that when taking it apart to never EVER pull the trigger. Apparently, if you do it will lock up the action completely. We got a little stuck on the reassembly so husband went and found a youtube video to help, but Chris managed it without. Husband kept the youtube video, though. It's hilarious - the guy who is doing it takes it apart step-by-step and after each step says "DON'T PULL THE TRIGGER". Once he has it all back together he explains the "why" to that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a-mgr6ZImo The gun is not the exact same model but very close, only aesthetic details differ.

So now that I have a gun we need to pattern it. And get the shell catcher before I take it out the range - would be very rude to throw shells at people :/

Thanks for the info on the Facebook page, I've gone and applied to join.

Edit: so I looked up micro, then I googled Browning Silver Sporting Micro - and I found it! My exact gun, it's a micro! Which explains why it fit so well :D This is the link I found https://www.gunsinternational.com/guns-for-sale-online/shotguns/browning-shotguns---semi-auto/browning-silver-sporting-micro-12ga-28-in.cfm?gun_id=100615631#lg-3. So there, that's what I have n_n

Oh my goodness, it is absolutely beautiful! What a stunner, I suggest you name it. I am definitely no shotgun expert, so my tips will be few and far between haha....

But shopping.. Now that's where I can always be of service LOL... https://www.cabelas.com/product/Birchwood-Casey-Save-It-Shell-Catcher/708763.uts
I wonder if you can find it locally. It's an easy install, I did it for my friend and it was simple.

YAY! I'm glad it was your gun, I knew that model came in a micro just from browsing the browning site. I love how that's an option. When I was recently looking at buying a trap gun, I first looked at a bunch of women's specific guns, and although I'm quite small, none of which really fit me... Maybe my monkey long arms lol.

This is my trap gun, I have it exactly as pictured. I bought it used as well, and I'm also looking for a hard case that I can disassemble it, and store. Although I've been on the hunt for a hard case, I can't help but fan girl at these gorgeous cases by Rey Pavon. https://reypavon.com/en/product-category/sporting-en/sleeves-for-shotgun-and-rifle/

I bought gorgeous riding boots from their website and they are sleek!

Oh and we were AT Cabela's and could have grabbed that >_< Checked around town today and haven't found one so will probably order online.

Your gun is just gorgeous! That is a complete show-stopper :D <3

I'm kinda wishing you hadn't shown me those lovely cases . . . *sigh* I got a basic Canadian Tire hard case for now. For now. Maybe I can convince husband I need one of those nice ones, for Christmas! XD

Well, case is bought, and now I need to accomplish some work. But I will check back in again :)

Where did you check? Del Selin and Eagle Industries in Vernon? Backcountry sports in Penticton? I love Great North Precision in Kelowna, but shotgun sports aren't a hot commodity for them.
I wish I never discovered them, I would buy one but I have so many things I want to pick up before my fall hunts, probably not a good idea to drop that much on a bag. But I recently discovered Tex Hollis in Oklahoma, and now I need a fancy shell bag lol... https://www.instagram.com/texhollis/?hl=en

I am glad you found a shotgun that fits you, yesterday myself and a friend were shooting sporting clays, and we watching a small lady struggling to shoot with a shotgun that had way too long of a LOP for her, and it obviously wasn't comfortable for her.

Congratulations. You bought a lifetime gun right at the start. Good choice.
Enjoy your new toy.

Thank you :) After weighing the pros and cons, we decided that a better gun now will save us money in the long run. And with going used it really did take some of the sting out of the cost.

(how does one delete a post? I realized after the first time I replied to this that it had no context and so I did it the second time with quote)

Precision, A&C, Can Tire (I know, really unlikely there but worth checking). Some of the online places have them (Cabela's, Amazon) but it more than doubles the actual cost. Currently researching Vernon, Penticton and West Kelowna.

I have a good teacher who is intent on people enjoying the sport - between him and all you folk on here I am learning about fit and LOP and all that stuff. While a bit overwhelming to start, the right gun will make the difference. I do envy you guys who seem to have so much more choice when initially looking to start, but I am SO delighted with my gun. It was worth the search and stress.

Congratulations, great choice. Now get out there and practice, practice, but keep it fun, don't get too serious too soon. In no time at all you will be the inspiration and helping hand to new lady shooters in your club.

Thanks, Ashcroft! I'm not competitive with others by nature - it makes me anxious. So I'm competitive with myself, trying to see how I can improve. If I keep the focus there I can enjoy myself and have fun :D

Trap is a game where you can shoot beside a AA shooter but you're not competing with him. You're competing with yourself. You can learn a lot shooting beside a good shooter.
