Recommendations for a SUB $500 Red Dot for CQB use on 10" AR

Maybe with some of the cheapy sights but this is completely wrong regarding better sights like Trijicons, Meprolights and Aimpoints. You can check it by moving your head around and seeing that the dot stays on the same point of aim.

Even TRS-25 will stay on target. At $125 with high mount included.

I have 2 Holosun sites and they work good for me and the many guests I have. They are on an AR15 14/5" and a Beretta 9mm carbine. I've got a Bushnell one on the SR22 and just got a Redfield which will probably go on an AR.

Another vote for the Vortex SPARC sights. Either gen 1 or gen 2. I have some of the higher end stuff (aimpoint and elcan) on my go to rifles but keeping high end optics on all my guns I just not practical and moving them from one rifle to another is pretty annoying. So depending on what the purpose of your rifle is, spending a bit less on an optic can give you funds for other items.

I have had a sparc 1 on spikes tactical ar15 for a long time and thousands of rounds. Done a few matches and classes with it. No issues. I also have another on my .22 upper for the rifle. If you can pick one up used on the EE for $150, it's a good deal. I have also heard only good things about the Bushnell TRS.

If you are considering this rifle a go to gun, then maybe investing in a more bombproof optic is the way to go. Aimpoint, eotech, elcan, and trijjicon are all good options depending on what you are looking for but they will be at the $500 mark or higher. Look for some deals on the EE for used or beat up (exterior) eotechs or aimpoints. Some good savings can be found there but the ads are not up for long.

I have the Bushnell TRS-25 and with the hirise it co-witnesses perfectly on my 7.5" AR, batteries last forever and best of all it costs $125. I also have several Vortex optics, and my 16" AR has the Vortex Strikefire II and magnifier, and other than the eye relief it's a sweet little set up, and SFRC has them both for a little over your estimated budget, if you have any wiggle room.

I had the Sig Sauer Micro clone; it was affordable and did the trick. Only issue was that the "red dot projector" blocked the lower 1/3 of the optic's FOV so it couldn't be cowitnessed with my BUIS.

I believe they are discontinued now though.

Based on the number of people recommending the Sparc, I went with a used Gen 1 and this past Sunday put just over 350 rounds downrange with my 10.5" AR doing CQB drills with a bit of runnin and gunnin.

Have to say I am quite impressed with this little red dot.

Dot doesn't fade in direct sunlight and is quite crisp.

Co-witnesses perfectly with MBUS sights using the tallest mount.

It is very light compared to my Strike Fire (that I love) which I have on a 14.5"

Only downside I can see is the on off switch is too easily activated to the on position when in the rifle case but I understand that was remedied with the second gen version.

For a whopping $120 used I don't think I could have done much better.

Voretex Canada was also great and sent me a set of Spark 2 flip up lens covers they had lying around on a used unit that was unrepairable which they sent for free. Just required a bit of trimming to fit the rear where the brightness control panel is situated.

Hi I have a different one that I am considering buying. Sightmark Ultra shot M . This one has the eotech display and a similar window. Its what the maker calls the mil spec model. Waterproof to 40 ft. Shockproof etc. Across the line they are selling out. They like em. Frontier has em for $200.00. That's less than in the States.

A used Aimpoint PRO. They are just over $500 new so used should only be around $600 on the EE ;)
I have one of them on one of my AR's and it's a pretty decent optic that seems rugged and supposedly the battery will last over a year even if you never turn it off.

+1 for the Aimpoint pro recommendation. They are a great optic for the $$ particularly if you can find one used.

Lately I've been shooting a Shield CQS that I really liked:

But that's going to be scraping the ceiling of your price cap depending on where you buy it.
