Hi All

I mainly shoot and reload for my benelli r1 in 30-06. At public ranges I am finding it a pain in the ass when I shoot this thing as brass flys far. Makes it hard to keep your brass sorted in terms of how many times it has been loaded and looking at the primers when working up loads as you have to wait for a cease fire before you can gather your brass. I have thought about getting a net but I like to shoot off the bench in different positions.

What I am wondering is that I have heard that trap shooters will put rubber bands around the receiver so that the shell will not eject. Just wondering if anyone has tried this with a semi auto rifle? This would work for me as I generally just load one road at a time and the bolt locks back when the mag is empty. Just don’t want to damage the firearm.

Thanks

Del

You can try a brass catcher. For example this one attaches to a picatinyr ail.

I was looking at these, the only problem is that my bolt handle is on the right hand side, the same side that the brass is ejected, looks like it may be hard to #### the weapon with this thing attached

If you're shooting from a bench just put a box or a pail on it's side next to you. I used to just leave an open rifle case on the table next to me but decided to just buy a brass catcher. Mine is big enough to use with a 223 with reciprocating handle and might be able to be used with a 308, There is probably one out there that will work or could be modified to work with your 30-06.

Caldwell makes a bigger fishnet kind of thing that mounts to a camera tripod. Have one but haven't used it yet. Also UTG makes a small one that attaches to the gun with a velcro strap. The rail mount Caldwell works wickedly well on my AR.
