Redding Big Boss II press

anybody got one? I ordered one and hopefully will get it within a few weeks. Retire my 35 yr old RCBS :)

Looks like a Rockchucker...Should be good.

If you can swing it the Forster co-ax is the best of the best.

When I was looking for a new press the Rockchucker and the Redding Big Boss II were side by side on the shelf. The Redding listed about $20 more but both were on sale for the same price so it was a coin toss. I took the Redding but might have been just a happy with the Rockchucker. When you do get your new press please let us know how they compare.

A little off topic, but I have an Ultramag. Simple, rugged, smooth with zero slop. I've recently made up a batch of 9mm Mauser by expanding 8mm brass to 9mm, and swaging Hornady 250gr .358 bullets down to .356. This was noticeably more work than garden variety reloading but really just "another day at the office" for the press. No surprises, no complaints, I'm a Redding fan :dancingbanana:.

Built with Canadians in mind, "only 3 moving parts" :D.

I have a regular Redding boss press....I guess the other ones have a bigger opening if you want to reload 50 bmg or something like that. I would not mind having the spent primer escape tube on mine but I didnt' think its worth the extra. I dont' use the primer arm attachment as I prefer the Lyman ram prime. I dont' think you could go wrong with any press from redding.

After having my sights set on a Big Boss II I ended up buying a Rockchucker Supreme off the EE the other day.....I hope I am not dissapointed as I have been wanting the BB II for some time.

Where did you get yours and what was the cost?

Just recently I bought a new Big Boss Pro Pak all gear is excellent and will be used for many years to come.
Last night I resized and de-primed my 308 Win brass the press performed perfectly it is rock solid.
In comparison to an older RCBS Rockchucker I have used this Redding press is even better it is more solid and has the added convenience of being offset and the primer cather works very well.
I will post more about the Redding Big Boss press as I gain more first hand experience.
I bought the kit from Natchez Shooters Supplies their price is one of the best and their service is excellent.

Good Luck

I've got an RCBS Rockchucker II and am quite happy with it. No complaints so far and although I haven't had opportunity to use their customer service, I've only hard good things about them. On the other hand, I have recently dealt with Redding's customer service first hand and can honestly say they were nothing short of fantastic. Have a new set of .280 Rem dies from them and through my own negligence and idiocy I managed to damage the set screw on the lock ring of my sizing die. It was damaged inside the lock ring so I couldn't get the allen key in to loosen or tighten it. Anyways, I needed a whole new lock ring for the die. I emailed Redding and explained the situation , including my fault in the ring damage, and asked for pricing on a replacement ring with shipping up to Alberta. I had an email back within the hour saying they would have a replacement ring out to me that day - no charge. Ring arrived in the mail from the states in a week. I'm sure this same level of customer service carries through to all of their products, presses included, so I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if my Rockchucker ever fails me.

In this day and age of poor customer service, I'm happy to be able to share a story of GOOD service.

I retired my 35 year old RCBS press for a big boss II as well. Having said that, The RCBS was still working great.

One feature that I really like about the Boss II is the spent primer tube. I run this into an empty 500ml water bottle and collect the spent primers that way. Neat, tidy, and almost never needs to be cleaned out. I have been feeding spent primers into it for about 3 years now and have it almost full, and I load A LOT!!

got the press today! :) Bolted it down and sized a hundred brass. Overall very happy!!! I'm sure I'll be getting many years out of it

You couldn't go wrong with the Rockchucker, although I'd rate the Redding Big Boss II equal in terms of quality construction. However, what gives the former the advantage is the unparalleled RCBS "no-questions-asked" warranty. No other company can touch them.

I'd have bought a T-7 Redding ...........but thats JMHO.

......and an Ultramag if you really want to crunch some brass.

The Reddng T-7 Turret press is fantastic. I'm a hardcore RCBS guy, but the T-7 is the best turret press on the market bar none. I love mine and like it better than the RCBS an I'm currently running at least three RCBS presse!

Republic of China Built Stuff apparently does have a good warranty. This is a good thing as lately, many have found it to be the very first feature they got to use with their newly purchased presses.

You don't hear much about Redding's lifetime warranty though. Anyone ever used it ?
