I was neck sizing some of my .284 Shehane brass the other day and unbeknownst to me, the nut holding decapping rod was loose. Needless to say I ended up catching the decapping pin in one of my cases, which in turn bent the decapping rod all to hell.

I sent Redding an email and they said they would send out a new rod right away. The new rod came in the mail this week along with a catalog and a bag of extra decapping pins (6 in the bag and 1 in the rod).

I love companies that stand behind their products with no questions asked and also include extra stuff I didn't even ask for.

You'll get similar customer service from any of the US reloading tool manufacturers. RCBS, Hornady, Lee, Dillon, etc. They all have great customer service as it's a requirement to compete with each other. I broke a decapping rod in my Lee universal decapping die and Lee sent me 3 replacements for free.

Though when I broke a press they wanted me to mail in the broken one before they'd send a new one. For a $27 press (the really weak aluminum one) it wasn't worth the $30 postage to send it in.

I have a fair number of Redding rifle cartridge dies, they are first class products. I have never had a problem with one, but it is always great to hear they will stand behind their stuff if there is an issue one day.

I've used RCBS, Hornady and Lee customer service. RCBS and Horn were awesome, no question, no cost, New part in the mail.

Lee refused to give me a replacement part for an auto-prime I had bought that year. Their only offer was for me to buy a new one at a slightly discounted rate. I won't be buying anymore Lee anything, it's all of far lower quality than Redding anyways.

the only thing ever good to come from lee is the universal decapper

redding dies are my #1 choice for any of my long range / precision stuff

rcbs gets the rest cause of the awesome customer service!

Until last year most of my dies were RCBS with a smattering of a couple other manufacturers mixed in.I picked up my first set in 9X57 from Prophet River last year and I must say the quality of the Redding dies, fit, finish, thread tolerances is top notch. They won't be my last, good to know their customer service is excellent as well.

I wish I could say the same for Redding.
I'm currently having difficulties with seating depth consistency out of a set of their competition dies costing $300.00.
My $40.00 Lee dies are seating +/- 0.0005 not +/- 0.0015 as are the Redding at the moment.
I have not had time to contact Redding and no these are not VLD's.

Yes I realize these are first world problems.

In the time it took you to post this you could have sent them an email. ;)

Yes but it is currently 1:24AM.
I won't be getting much of a response before Monday.

I also prefer to pick up the phone and call rather than communicate via email.
I guess being in my mid 40's now makes me a dinosaur.
When I went out into the field 25 years ago we had no cell phones, email etc.
When you had a problem you had to figure it out for yourself most of the time.
Maybe tomorrow I will sit down and figure out why this die is giving me grief before calling them on Monday.

Some days like today I am overwhelmed with phone calls from customers, employees, and my suppliers that I don't really have much time for anything else.

I also had more important personal calls to make which didn't get made today.
I'm in the process of building a Ford 9" differential for my Mustang and I was supposed to call Currie Enterprises to custom order the 3rd member and axles.
That will also need to wait till Monday now.

I came home and made supper then I put my head down on the pillow to take a little nap and here I am at 1:24AM wide awake and ready to take on the world.

LOL - I'm with you on the phone vs email question - with a phone, you can actually ensure the person on the other end understands the issue by the end of the call - email, on the other hand, can take several back-and-forths, chewing up hours or days plus ulcer medication each time, depending on the IQ level of whoever is on the other end (ok, on both ends, sometimes...).

Anyway, I was recently getting a bit of variability in my Redding competition seater as well, and decided to try cleaning out the bullet seating plug - there was an amazing amount of crud up there, considering that the only things that go up there are shiny clean (i.e. NEW) bullets... Once that was removed, I was back to the results I was used to. Something to try (if you haven't already) while waiting for Monday to roll around.
