Refurbished Mosins being sold as UNISSUED/UNFIRED/NEVER ISSUED @ Rangeview AVOID!!

3xactly what I proposed in their original thread. Refund $100 for the solid stocks, and $150 for the laminates. This would mean no one who wanted to just keep their purchase would have to face the expense of shipping, and neither would they.

This is going to become a sticky mess like old Cosmo.

However... If a customer feels a product was misrepresented the company should make it right, even if that is just allowing the person to return the item so that it can be sold to somebody else.

Funny thing here, and i find it fascinating that things didn’t happen that way, is that it could have been simple to avoid the mess. Rangereview could have said "sorry folks we didn’t know". Offer the buyers a choice of partial refund (to match what similar Mosins sell for elsewhere),or full refund if gun is returned. Guns returned then can be sold (with correct description). Maybe some financial loss, but reputation is preserved (or improved).

Nope, You have it correct Lou. They said that it isn't their fault that they were told by their supplier that they were Never Issued/Unissued. They claimed both of those descriptions in their advertisement. They told me that they aren't doing anything about it and won't refund money even if the rifles are returned unopened. They should face not only total avoidance by members on here, but I think that they should also be kicked off this forum for this so that they lose all of our collective business.

I'll be calling my CC company tonight when I get home from work.

Not to sound rude, and maybe I am naive but do unfired Mosins even exist? Sounds to good to be true to me. They were after all used by a country that lost 25,000,000 people during the war, not to mention all the conflicts by satellite nations post-war. I don’t think anything they made went unused.

My thoughts exactly, They have been refurbs since they came in years ago. Any Mosin with a box and a diagonal slash is a refurb. Laminate stocks were made during the late war period (latter 1943) and many more used as replacement stocks after WWII ended. A Pre-war Mosin in a laminate stock is a refurb. As for the vendor, Well make it right...

Nope. Words have meanings. There is no such thing as "alternative fact". There's truth and there's untruth. Untruth can be either lies or mistakes, and retailers are on the hook for both kinds when selling a product. Whether they are liars or incompetent is irrelevant.

Call Rangeview this morning. As soon as I said I was calling about the unissued rifle his tone changed. Told him my bolt had rust on it and he got a bit upset about people posting their opinions on web sites. He told me all sales final and he was talking to his supplier. I told him that the rifle was not what he advertised and it was fraud. He asked me if I opened the box and if I did he could not do anything anyway all rifles are final sale. I said how elae could I inspect the rifle. He asked if I cleaned of the cosmo. I said how else can I inspect what I had and asked if his buyer looked at any of these. He said then the rifle is altered and he would never take back an altered rifle. That I'm not a gun smith so I can't clean it without altering the rifle.
So called cc company. Told them my story. They said send copies of my receipt with the words unissued on it and take the rifle to an expert and get their opinion on their letterhead stating that the rifle is not as stated and he will process my dispute. He says it sounds like I have an excellent chance on my claim. They have to wait 15 days though.
