Refurbished Mosins being sold as UNISSUED/UNFIRED/NEVER ISSUED @ Rangeview AVOID!!

Call Rangeview this morning. As soon as I said I was calling about the unissued rifle his tone changed. Told him my bolt had rust on it and he got a bit upset about people posting their opinions on web sites. He told me all sales final and he was talking to his supplier. I told him that the rifle was not what he advertised and it was fraud. He asked me if I opened the box and if I did he could not do anything anyway all rifles are final sale. I said how elae could I inspect the rifle. He asked if I cleaned of the cosmo. I said how else can I inspect what I had and asked if his buyer looked at any of these. He said then the rifle is altered and he would never take back an altered rifle that I'm not a gun smith so I can't clean it without altering the rifle.

What a load of BS :jerkit::jerkit::jerkit:

Never dealing with them EVER. And it's unfortunate it has come to this because they're not all that far away from me either.

So called cc company. Told them my story. The said send copies of my receipt with the words unissued on it and take the rifle to an expert and get their opinion on their letterhead stating that the rifle is not as stated and he will process my dispute. He says it sounds like I have an excellent chance on my claim. They have to wait 15 days though.

I have a good fealing you'll be successful with your claim. You have taken the appropriate action under the circumstances and I wish you the best.

Hopefully everyone effected does likewise.

Mistakes happen but the dealer should make it right. This is their reputation at risk.

If not...

You’ve altered the gun? Lol that’s rich. They altered their ad and lied to customers. This is really going to turn out poorly for Rangview very quickly unless they nip this thing in the bud right now. Like others said, how hard is it to offer back customers the difference from what they paid to what used are for? I realize they have a sales are final policy but that’s not a get out of jail free card.

They must made some real good profit off these Mosins to refuse to make things right for those who bought it. Rangeview is probably waiting to hear back from their supplier and try to negotiate some type of agreement to lighten the financial impact when they announce a recall....but The damage is done for this store, their name is ruined and will probably take years to rebuild. What a dumb decision to sit on a time bomb and not do the right thing when it was brought to their attention.

Marstar pulled a similar stunt 15 years ago that I got burnt on.
They said "New" rifles everywhere on their webpage, here, gun ad rags that were around at the time, but they meant "newly assembled from old worn out used parts". At least that was the story when they got called out on it back then.
New doesn't mean NEW...just newly built according to them.
These Rangeview guys suck for pulling this amateur BS. Really could be considered mail fraud, which isn't a joke, and the may need to be reminded of that.

There are always new, unissued, guns somewhere. That doesn't mean you'll find them at your local gun store in case quantities. The seller should have known these guns weren't new, unissued rifles. So should the wholesaler. If anyone finds out who the wholesaler was, it would be interesting to find out what they say the guns are.

Unissued guns from Soviet era WWII? I can't see that happening.

I have a feeling they were lied to in the first place , so prolly payed more for the lot , most likely added a % increase to make a profit which is normal but then it turns out the rifles aren’t as stated and now it’s difficult for them to offer a refund because the margin most likely isn’t big and they would prolly be in the whole if they returned the difference or even took the rifles back then sold them at market value for refurbs.

Anyways that’s what I’m thinking happened

Totally. To claim someone altered the gun by removing the Cosmo is insulting, and a good way to get bad publicity.

Oh I wouldn't be surprised if you're correct. However, that doesn't excuse the way they are handling it. They should be making things right for their customers and taking the issue up with the supplier. They shouldn't be passing the buck to the customer.

They had 30 Rifles. They should have taken them back and resold as refurbished and make an open apology explaining what happened to them. I bet they would have gained some sympathy and not what is going on.
To those who say that unissued would not exist. I think if they had excellent refurbs that look almost as good as new that would have passed for a lot of the customers. These are just bad rifles that have had a lot of work done to get rid of damage then painted. It does not look blued.

Oh I agree with you but some people only realize they F’ed up when it’s to late , to me it’s already looking like it’s to late for them , at least on the forum

They are the closest store to me as i live about 20 klms from them.
However, after reading about how they have treated customers I will drive somewhere else in future.
Mistakes happen but what is important is how a store deals with the mistake after the fact.
IMO, they blew it really badly.

Rangeview is a company that I will not ever be buying stuff from - they are going to spend alot of money on advertising but they FAILED to realize that some of the best advertising is word of mouth.

It should have gone down like this:

Supplier: We have 30 unissued Nagants
Rangeview: Can you send me one so I can have it verified?
Supplier: No
Rangeview: Good bye

I'm no huge Mosin expert, but unissued does not mean brand new. These guns have been sitting in some soviet era arsenal for 70+ years, they are going to need refurbishment in order to be viable on the surplus market.
