Regarding CZ Shadow

Just shoot and have fun.

With IDPA if you stick with the fun and get to where you shoot a qualifier you'll simply be put into the category band that you scored. From that point on you'll be shooting against others in ESP that are within your category. So the equipment is not the same game setter that it is in IPSC. In IPSC the "standard" class, which is sort of comparable to ESP, still allows a heap of equipment upgrades which are strictly prohibited in IDPA. So it's simply not the same boat at all.

So buy the Shadow if that's what you want. Use it in IPSC Production and don't do a thing to it and use it in ESP in IDPA.

I disagree. Shoot it SSP as that's the type of pistol it is (by the rule, once you're under 39oz). No reason to shoot against guys with true ESP guns (i.e. STI Eagles). Plus, you'll have more competition in SSP, in my experience.

Furthermore, if you plan to shoot IPSC Production you'll need to get used to the double action first pull.

Thanks everyone for excellent advises, they really helped ! (except may be changing sport)
I'll probably start with Shadow in IPSC and see what required as time comes to IDPA.
