Regarding YETI...

I'm a Canadian and not an NRA member.

However, if I am looking at two comparable products, and company P is affiliated with or supports a pro gun organization like the NRA, and company Y actively seeks to distance themselves from such organizations, then I will purchase from Company P.

I would probably even send company P a quick email explaining why I chose their product over Company Y.

It's just common sense to support companies that are more aligned with you and your beliefs.

This above is more along my beliefs and actions. I'm also kind of surprised that a retail GUN store and range would align themselves with YETI at this time.

I'm as conservative as anyone. The NRA isn't interested in the American population. There is no give and take. It's like the 2nd Amendment is the ONLY part of the Constitution.
They need to have their wings clipped and start feeling the only thing that can hurt them...financial sanctions from companies.
I can’t beleive I’m reading this garbage on a forum dedicated to guns and gun ownership, of all places. When it comes to gun control, there is no give and take. It’s give OR take. You’ve been a member here since 2006...I’m surprised you haven’t figured this out yet.

All of you people attacking the NRA need to get your heads out of you know where. It is the most successful gun rights organization in the history of mankind, by a factor of 1000. They’ve had so many big victories...from overturning the assault weapons ban to getting concealed carry laws passed by the majority of the states. Not to mention something called DC v. Heller. That’s why the NRA gets attacked and defamed so much by the left - unlike most other orgs, they actually accomplish things.

I just went and refunded 1500 worth of Yetis today.
Also called a few local safeway and shoppers. No gun magazines. Am keeping all my businesses to local small shops/markets and none of those corporate chains.

capp325 says it like it is...

Wow, an organization that uses corporate blackmail as a means of fundraising. That sounds very unAmerican and anti free speech. The NRA was founded to promote gun safety and responsible gun ownership so as to preserve shooting sports so idiots wouldn't cause reasons to have guns taken away. Now it's all about protecting gun sales and idiots making gun owners look bad. Shame on them for only being money grubbing crackpots.

Melvin, your loyalist/royalist roots are showing...

The posts on this thread are some of the most fudd worthy comments I have witnessed since I joined CGN, who cares about the NRA, and I support companies that support the anti gun agenda? I mean wtf people, are we not firearms enthusiasts.
Instead of supporting companies that sell over priced junk from China that only care about the bottom line and cut ties with orgs that stand up for us, we should support the folks like the NRA instead.
Maybe we should have a new forum called, Gun owners that will throw others under the bus.

This thread has become an interesting "business case study". What should TSE Sales do?

I suspect TSE Sales can make a few hundred+ (few thousand) dollars profit in the YETI stock they currently have on hand. I suspect this thread is a result of a call from the YETI distributor for support. Many of the anti-NRA posters here could well be YETI (and/or TSE Sales) staff related.

Common sense says TSE Sales cuts a deal with YETI to discount the price of existing YETI stock as a sign of YETI support of it's sales network. In a market test, TSE Sales tries to blow out YETI merchandise to see what the market will take. If everything goes, YETI has nothing to worry about. If YETI can't be moved at a discount, TSE Sales looks for a new supplier as the YETI brand is damaged and will affect the TSE Sales brand.

I am not looking for YETI products. There are many vendors out there to choose from. I see the YETI brand as damaged goods. I will not support a store marketing YETI products.

If people are tired of the identity politics...then you must vote with your wallet. If a company tries to jump on a bandwagon to impress the left....I will make a mental note and boycott them.

Only by forcing companies to lose over half of their income...for trying to demonise one half of their income..and going bankrupt...will teach them to just "sell your crap"..and keep the politics out of it....

I don't care how good a product is...if they engage in "identity politics" I will boycott them...If they show any "progressive" leanings...I will boycott them...

The funny thing that companies like this don't realise..is that the left are mainly a vocal few...and the rest of us are the "silent majority" ....and were waking up....

that's how you send your message to them..

I don’t really care.. if I want something from yeti I will buy it. I doubt my barber supports the NRA and I still go to him as well as a host of other businesses.

But then again gun people are always reasonable so maybe I should listen and boycott everyone that doesn’t agree and support unconditionally everything I do...

Grow up people, it’s a big tough world out there. Businesses doing what’s right for them is not a fault in my books. I’m sure they calculated for the knee jerk gun owner reactions when they made the decision, boycotting most businesses will hurt you more than it hurts them.

I think the silent majority are the ones who really don't care until it directly impacts them and overpriced coolers won't be that in general, although I am sure TSE continuing to carry could have an effect due to the nature of their business. I doubt Cabela's is doing anything about C-71 nor are going to stop carrying Yeti.

As mentioned above about Yeti being a damaged good, the NRA has long been becoming that to the general public and even some gun owners in the US. They are only taken a little more seriously than the evangelicals who blame incidents in the US on the "sins" and that is only because of the money they get from the companies. The fact that they only have 5 million members out of how many owners is quite telling.

I can guarantee you MEC has probably not lost that much money after they dropped Camelbak, they wouldn't have taken their stance without looking at the numbers (odds are that is what took them two days to figure out how it would affect them vs their client demographics). Dicks Sporting Goods has actually gained clientele after Parkdale and their publicized destruction of ARs they had in stock. Youtube is giving gun videos the Bye Felicia treatment because they know where their ad money comes from.

Sad to say, society is starting to look at our hobby like smoking became starting in the early 80s regardless of the ramifications that it may come to.

Actually, once this story broke, we reached out to YETI for their take on this matter and sat back. When we got nothing of substance back, we pulled Yeti from the shelves.

Yeti did eventually respond with a more detailed response and timeline. It actually demonstrates fairly soundly that the NRA have used this situation to inflate themselves and Yeti was actually not really at fault in this matter.

However, my issue with Yeti is that due to really poor crisis management, they have polarized the situation and inadvertently alienated the shooting community. It's not my job to protect their image or to do damage control on their behalf, especially when we just literally got our first shipment a day before this erupted. I'm a small business.

We discussed this internally and its easier to simply move on as we already stock Pelican.
