Question: When you examine those unbroken targets with six holes? How do you know if the speed was too fast or too slow?
They are the Super Sporting loads and are legal for sporting clays. The rules quoted above are from the ATA handbook. There was a guy shooting these shells un our squad last weekend and they were pouding the snot out of him. Meanwhile my 7/8 ounce loads at 1,300 fps were breaking the targets well with a lot less recoil.
His story about the can on the fence post is his explanation of why there are holes in the unbroken clay.![]()
I'm using 19.5 grains of American Select and all Winchester components.I like those 7/8 oz loads. I think mine are a lot slower. I use about 16.8 grains 700X. Not my favorite powder, but I got lots cheap.

When was the last time you checked?
At least I'm consistent in my suggestions about powder and Norinco sxs.You suggested that load a couple years ago. I tried it and really liked it, but I could not find it in bulk lots above 1 lb. I switched back to 700X which I have in abundance and even more since I just got another 12 pounder at a steal. Since I only use reloads for practice, I am trying my best to use up my 700X.
Yesterday for the retail. Two days ago at CSSL. Both say that prices will remain til they get their next shipment and are not sure which way the price will go. CSSL get their stuff from humeston but includes the freight in their price. What tax do you pay on top of that price?

I fooled around with most of the standard 12 gauge powders and haven't found anything I like better and can get it in bulk from a local dealer. The only bad news is that it's a little more expensive than most powders but I like the performance and intend to stick with it.
Yes. The grey CB0178 which is WW12L replacement. Same performance as the Winchester although with a little more plastic build up.Have you tried the CB wads in that combination?
12 gauge.C.B what gauge??
I've run into the same issues with the 28 gauge AAHS. Here's a good link from Shotgun World on the subject.ohhh. i have had problems with 28 as well as .410 reloading them. did some reasearch and found out that. the AAHS hulls that have a line under the HS are of a different length than ones without the line. They require a different hull. and adjustments are needed on the press itself. Made the adjustments (increased wad pressure and crimp height) and everything worked out great. Had to get them great because the g/f is the one shooting them!
Which rule book?
Sorry ATA rule book.
